As an avid fragrance addict, I love how certain smells and perfumes take us back to old memories. They makes us travel back in time and somewhat relive the good memories. I may or may not be a perfume hoarder, but that’s only because each scent holds a special place in my heart. I generally, whenever I travel, like to purchase a new perfume, because it forever keeps reminding me of that particular place I went to. I have this weird thing, where whenever I finish a perfume, I cannot ruse it…bizarre I know, but that’s just me. However, over the past few months and years, I have collected the ones I know that I will surely come back to as they truly do represent me as a person…a little bit of a badass princess.
Here are my top 5 favorite fragrances:
1- Now this is probably on my most loved perfume out of this bunch, because it takes me way back to Morocco; it reminds me of the morning walking in the souks and the beautiful, colorful spice racks that were on display and the warm, welcoming people of Morocco. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi about it that really makes me travel back in time to relive my greatest moments of solitude and self-discovery. This perfume is very sexy, woody and intoxicating in the best way possible. I tend to gravitate towards musky fragrances rather than floral-y or fruity ones and so I feel like this compliments my personality so much. The notes of Oakwood and Vanilla create a lovely, magical balance which wraps you in a warm, leather-y aroma. I find that the Elizabeth & James fragrances are all unique and for the price, they’re worth it because the scent is there and the staying power too.
2- I have talked about this perfume already in a previous post. This fragrance really does live up to its name; it is the most decadent, rich, luxurious, feminine and sultry scent you can ever possibly come across. I have gone through a lot of perfumes in my life time, from CK One, to Dior’s Miss Cherie…but this Marc Jacobs fragrance is a definite keeper for me…It’s floral-y but in a warm way; with hints of amber. Marc nailed in on the head with this one! I feel like I am (literally) unstoppable with this one, it lasts all day and you can smell it on yourself and when I do, I feel like a surge of energy hits me and then I just keep going (if that makes sense). If I were a super badass, super vigilante, heroine, I would imagine myself always smelling like this.
3-As the name suggests, the main, key player note in this fragrance is Oud. This particular scent has always been associated with Arabic culture, it is to an extent the definition of royalty, strength and power. Coming from a little of a Saudi Arabian background, I have always smelled this around me and I feel this perfume in particular takes me back to my childhood. I am very fickle when it comes to Oud, because it can sometimes be too over-powering to the point where it gives me migraines. However, Roberto Cavalli made this one work in the most delicate way; it’s an absolutely rich fragrance but it’s not overbearing. I love wearing this one of special occasions (mainly because it’s a gift from my sissy), because it’s not a daily fragrance. But whenever I do choose to wear it, I always get complimented on it! It honestly smells amazing and even though the main ingredient is Oud; its undernotes are sweet and floral.
4-Yes, I am slightly obsessed with the Elizabeth & James perfumes, but what can I say, they always get it right! This is quite a new addition to my little collection of perfumes (I only have 8 and some were gifts). I know it sounds a little stupid, but when I saw it launch on the Sephora website, I knew I would love it, purely by its name….yes, I bought a perfume only based on its name! Amethyst; it sounds so luxury to me! With notes like Tobacco and Cedar, this perfumes give me rebel vibes. It’s feminine yet masculine. It has a slight resemblance to the Bourbon perfume but it’s a lot more special. It has an edge and perhaps it’s the Tobacco in there that gives it a little bit more kick. This too is very sexy but in a subtle way.
5- Last, but definitely not least, this one is a little bit of a funny story. I was out looking to buy my husband a new perfume as a birthday gift, but ended up loving it so much, that I got it for myself (insert the See-No-Evil monkey emoji here…you know the one covering its eyes). LOLZ! But since I am not a greedy person, I also ended up sharing it with the hubs. Yes, I do realize that the Armani Code is a masculine scent, but hey, works for me! It literally smells like a hot man! It’s seductive and opulent and elegant and the list goes on. My husbands sprays it on himself before going to work and he still smells yummy after 12 hours of wear. It literally lasts for forever and a little bit goes a long way. It too has notes of amber in it (QUELLE SURPRISE!), but by now, I guess you all figured out what I like in my fragrances.
**PS: I am now putting up 3 blog posts a week at 11 am EST**
I have this weird guilty pleasure in watching people’s videos on Youtube of empty products…their thoughts and reviews. Empties posts are so thrilling…it’s totes weird, I know, but super super satisfying. So, today, I thought I would share with you the products I have used up in the past couple of months and my thoughts on them…would I repurchase or not. I have a total of 21 products for today’s post and without making this too long…let’s get into it.
I got this product on a total whim, because I was away (in Jordan) and didn’t carry my favorite wash with me…I was a little afraid to use it because my skin get irritated super easily and exfoliating daily didn’t sound like a good option. However, despite the name, I ended up loving this product! It does what it promises to do. It cleans, gently, unclogs the pores and exfoliates without drying the skin and without giving it the tight feeling you get sometimes from certain cleansers. It’s super inexpensive (10$ CAD) and lasts forever. I ended up repurchasing this and have now 2 back ups for whenever I run out of my other cleansers. All in all, I would say this is a win!
This product is developed for men and borrowed by women…as it is written on the bottle, the Anthony range at Sephora is for men, but women aren’t afraid to use it. I got this mask because I needed something potent, fast and efficient…and this is exactly what I got with this product. The fast is amazing! It’s a clay mask that you leave on from 5 to 10 minutes (I would go for 5 at first, because it burns) and it’s filled with amazing ingredients such as Vitamins A, C and E. It nourishes the skin while cleansing it. I do feel super squeaky clean after using it. It has a strong menthol-y smell and so at first it made me tear…but then when I got used to it…the smell didn’t bother me anymore. The results are great and I would definitely repurchase it. It’s sold at Sephora for 29$ CAD and for the price and the quality…there’s no arguing here that this is a must in your skin emergency saving kit. I even let my husband use it with me…and we sit there all red and demonic, but both end up with clear looking skin.
This is literally the bomb! I discovered this on a whim at the drugstore when I was in search of a serum to leave in my hair after the shower. I was going through a rough time and my hair was always freaking dry…even though I am not a hair coloring whore…I mean I love it on others…but then I feel bad doing it to my hair…Anyway, the ends of my hair are allllways dry…and when I started using this, it completely changed. This Dove oil saved my ends and made my hair shiner, healthier and just over all good looking. I bought this for a grand hefty total of 6$ CAD and let me tell that this is the best 6$ I have ever spent in my life…this product does what it promises to do and you see results instantly…and for colored, damaged hair, the results would be even more amazing.
I have spoken about this mascara before…and you can read the full review here…but this is just to share that I finished it (again!). This is my go to mascara and I am in love with it. I have been using it for a year now..and I got this sample in a Sephora sale…but just to say…this mascara is bomb! It’s a bit expensive (33$ CAD), but it gives me the results I want…volume and length and lasts all day. So a total yay for that one!
This is definitely on the price side of things…I mean this 30ml bottle costs 46$ CAD..but Kiehl’s is a great brand and a lot of their products are worth the splurge. I got this a few years ago when I had skin issues and had loads of hyperpigmentation spots…and found it amazing as it helped nourish and heal my skin. Then, I forgot about it and rediscovered it again this year. I have been using it every night before my moisturizer and dab into my skin and just let it sink in before adding my other layers. ANDDD, it smells amazing! It’s a mix of essential oils which help heal the skin, regenerate the skin and plump the skin by morning. This is a definite repurchase product and I will continue to use it in my routine.
I discovered this brand a little while back by luck and since it was inexpensive and had great reviews…I wanted to check it out and see if I found something I liked to add into my skincare regimen. I got the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum because I wanted clear skin before the wedding. I started using this serum in May and I can absolutely certify that it helped my skin stay healthy and clear. Wheever I broke out…it was always mild and it clear instantly. I used this along side the Kiehl’s serum…I used this on in the AM and then put my SPF on. What I liked about the Ordinary products is that they’re efficient, inexpensive and they’re very thought out. There’s science behind each product and they offer the best for your skin without damaging it. I feel like the products are very potent…but in such a gentle way. Niacinamide helps reduce blemishes by decongesting the skin gently. It also helps keep the skin oils/sebum in check…it balances things out and so you’ve got fewer break outs. The zinc in this, on the other hand, helps heal the skin faster and it is known to be a very effective ingredient for acne-prone skin. For 12$ CAD, I would say, this product is a winner.
This lavender hand cream smells divine! This 50ml tube costs 12$ CAD and it lasts for a long time…depends on how much product you use on a daily basis. Since this is a tube that I would typically throw in my bag, it could go for weeks before it finishes. Bleu Lavende is a Canadian based company that makes a wide range variety of therapeutic home, health and beauty products. Obviously, we all know that lavender essential oil acts against stress and anxiety. This cream also contains good ingredients that helps with the growth and balance of the skin tissue. It’s a great product to keep close as it softens dry skin by giving it elasticity and protects against attacks from the cold. There’s also grape seed oil, which also nourishes the skin and keeps it smooth. And finally, the Shea butter protects the skin against dryness while maintaining its elasticity. Overall, this is a good handy cream to use on a daily basis as it doesn’t make you feel greasy…but it hydrates you enough to keep you happy!
Since moving countries, I have had so many issues with my hair because it hasn’t been agreeing with the water…its’ too salty I guess. I never had dandruff and dryness issues as much as I do now…or up until I found this gem. I don’t like to use Head & Shoulders because I feel like it dries out my hair and doesn’t completely get rid of the dandruff issues. Then, I went it a random hair shop in Jordan hoping to find the holy grail that will save my hair…and then I crossed this one; the Schwarzkopf dandruff control shampoo helped clear the issue and deep cleaning my scalp while being gentle on the actual hair strands (if that makes any sense). For 200ml, you pay 34.00$ CAD and I say it’s completely worth it. I feel like it’s like a clarifying shampoo…which means, you do not need to use it every time you shower because it could get a little aggressive. This is a definite yay in my book!
For 68$ CAD (15ml), I was hoping I would love this. This eye gel cream was a little bit of a meh product. For what it claims to do, I would have loved to see the results. Now, I purchased this a few months ago on the Sephora website in search of the perfect eye cream to help with my darkness for the wedding…then I found this through the high rated 5-star section. I decided, despite the hefty price tag, I would try it anyway. After a few months of using this, I wasn’t too impressed. This eye gel promises to reduce puffiness and dark circles. I felt like the only thing it did to me was hydrate my under eye area…which is something I could get from any cream from the drug store. What I did like though, about this cream, is that it was lightweight when applied and scentless; which is perfect for sensitive skin.
Without going in too much depth…this is my holy grail, ride or die, most amazing, most favorite cleanser of alllll time. I have spoken about this COSRX cleanser multiple times on my blog and to know my full thoughts, you can read this. This is my 4th bottle and I will continue to repurchase it. For 10$, this is the best cleanser I have used in my entire life…even more so than higher end cleansers.
I got this as a sample and LOVED it! Not only is it a heat protectant, I feel like it restores your hair as well. This spray contains caviar extract, vitamin C, E, A, B6, B12 and Biotin…which all help restore hydration, strength, vibrancy, and elasticity to the hair. The mixture of marine botanicals deliver moisture and help repair damage, resulting in hydrated, perfectly smooth strands. With the dry issues I have been having, my ends would end up looking more damaged and fried, after using this it made my hair so soft and AMAZING and restored. I will certainly be purchasing this! You can find it on the Sephora website for 37.50$ CAD. Pricey but worth it.
Hyaluronic acid is a moisture binding ingredient, which means, it will lock in moisture into your skin and help revive it and hydrate it deeply. Young, juicy and supple skin is exactly what you get when using hyaluronic acid on a regular basis. Vitamin B5 helps heal, protect, sooth and regenerate the skin. The Ordinary people have got this skincare game in the basket. They make products that are super potent but affordable. This is what I love about this brand, they care about making things right and providing products for consumers to truly benefit from. So for 12$ CAD, I would say that this a definite repurchase item…in fact, I already repurchased it…just waiting for it in the mail!
This micelle solution is the bomb! I use it liberally to cleanse my skin and to remove makeup. It is one of the few micelle waters that doesn’t burn or sting my eyes. This water cleanses and removes makeup without drying out the skin What I like about this is that it purifies my skin gently and I can sometimes get away with just using this, rather than washing my whole face with cleanser. On morning, where I can’t be bother to wash my face…I just splash some water and then use this micelle solution on a cotton pad and then voila! my skin feels clean, refreshed and new. This 500ml bottle costs about 15$ CAD, but they sometimes comes in a 2 for 1 special, which comes a little bit cheaper. For anyone looking for a good micelle solution, Bioderma is the brand to look for!
I first started using this 3 years ago when I was in search of a water-y spray to help with dryness on the plane. I got it on a whim at the Sephora aisle of doom by the cash…and I ended up LOVING it. This stuff is amazing…I mean it doesn’t do much to the skin except give it a little oomph and a little glow. The beauty elixir is a toning mist that sets makeup (which is the way I use it most of the time), provides an instant burst of radiance, and tightens the appearance of pores. The smell is calming and soothing and it’s so yummy and I will continue to repurchase it even though it does nothing else than give you a glow. The spray is good and it distributes the water in a lightweight mist. The 30ml bottle runs for 22$ CAD, it’s a little expensive and is such a princess product but I love it anyway.
I’m not going to write too too much on this…because I tired it and it sucked. SO icky, so sticky and so freaking hard to remove…and it freaking clumps and gets everywhere. Don’t understand the waterproof part of it, because it smudges everywhere…perhaps my lashes are too wild for it, however, this is a big nay for me. For 30$ CAD I was hoping it would give me the results I was looking for.
I adore this little bugger!! LOVE ITTTT!!! It’s basically a liquid highlighter which you can use alone or mixed into your moisturizers, makeup, etc…I usually preferred to put it into my SPF cream. This always gave my skin a natural and healthy glow and people always complimented me on the days I was wearing it. This little bottle is sample size, as I bought it in a set for the wedding…I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it… and I ended up loving it! I would repurchase it for sure at some point…but right now I have something else I am using and I am equally loving. Also, 50$, that’s essspenssivvee!! However, here’s a big yay to BECCA for making such amazing highlighters!
I have used this multiples times before and this is only a sample size I got during a purchase at Sephora. But I did buy the full size and I think it’s totes worth it. It’s 31$ CAD for 2.5oz, but using a little bit of it goes a long way. This leave in conditioner/treatment smells freaking awesome and it leaves the hair supple, healthy, hydrated and shiny. It’s a 10 in 1 product and so you get a lot of benefits using it. It provides moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength. Basically the best cocktail your hair can ever ask for—to look absolutely beautiful, healthy, and flawless. I usually either use this after the shower on my damp hair or on dry hair the next day I wash my hair…either way, you get the results. This is a staple in my hair care regimen.
This is basically a mix of peptides that claim to help keep the skin youthful and healthy…I kindda felt that it did nothing to the skin and it was a little bit of an added layer into my regimen for nothing. I wouldn’t repurchase this…it’s wasn’t nay but more of a meh. Peptides are amino-acids that are the foundation and building blocks of proteins in the skin. This is the only product from the The Ordinary range that I would not repurchase.
This swirled formula combines a gel and a cream to help hydrate the skin and lock in moisture. The white cream is obviously the heavier of the 2 consistencies and it is there to provide the deep hydrating and firming ingredients, including tsubaki (camellia) oil and rice bran. The gel, however, contains the lighter nourishing ingredients, like sodium hyaluronate. At first I liked it, but when I started it using it more and more, I ended up hating it as it gave me little white heads along my cheeks and I knew it ended up being too heavy for my skin. I felt like my skin got a bit too greasy with this product and so this is not a repurchase for e. I would only use it for when my skin is super dry and for 50$ that comes out expensive.
I was searching high and low for the perfect eye cream that will help hydrate the skin around my eyes and de-puff it, until this guy. I got this in the 100 points exchange at Sephora and I am so glad I did because I found the perfect eye cream. This is hydrating but not heavy…it skins into the skin beautifully and provides enough moisture. I feel like concealer goes on so much smoother every time I use this little bad boy. It’s 69$ CAD, you get 15ml and I know it sounds insane but I would say it’s worth the splurge.
Last but not least, I have spoken about the Marc Jacobs makeup line in previous posts…this is the only high end brand I am willing to spend my money on. Marc Jacobs has got everything down with this line. The mascara, the eye shadows, the eyeliners…they’re just to die for. The quality and the consistency is amazing and to be honest, the price isn’t too bad for what you get. I mean, yes I paid 33$ for this eyeliner, but I have had it since December and it’s still going strong…well up until it dried up recently after I left the cap open for a few days…le boo!!!!! Other than that, the colors are awesome, the quality is the bomb and the lasting power is so freaking insane. They glide on smoothly and stay put alllll day…this is a definite must for those who are in search of good quality liners that don’t move or go anywhere.
I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know which of these products you have used and loved and which you have hated…would love to hear your thoughts!!!
Preparing and protecting my skin for the wedding was a must for me and keeping it safe from the sun was my #1 priority. Since doing a chemical peel at the dermatologist a little over 4 years ago, my skin has become very sensitive to sun exposure and the general weather elements, which is kinda annoying as hell because I always have to be aware. Being in the cold too much will dry out my skin till it cracks and being in the sun too much will burn my skin till it’s tight and extremely dry. Either way, I’m screwed. Since I wanted to avoid having skin issues on my wedding day, I decided to invest in a proper skincare regimen a few month prior to that and that required research and making sure that I would not end up having a reaction to the products I used.
Having the right SPF was such a struggle for me because I break out easily to them and for the longest time I did not use them…but since the skin regenerates better when protected from the sun, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and find myself something fantastic. After loads of reading and researching, I came across the Shiseido Future Solution LX SPF 50+ and this has rocked my world. I do not go a day without it! The price is very very steep, at a huge 115$ cad, it comes in as a very high end/expensive product. Since knowing that I could try product at Sephorabefore committing and having a flexible exchange/return policy, I took the dive and bought it.
I bought it since April and have been using it on a daily basis including days where there wasn’t much sun peaking through and I have to say that since using it, I have seen improvement in my skin and it’s healing process. Hyper-pigmentation is not much of an issue for me because I protect my skin well. I didn’t want to go for a chemical sunscreen because I prefer physical ones. I feel like my skin doesn’t break out to those. This Shiseidosunscreen is prefect because it is a mix of both. Physicals sunscreens have a mix of both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Therefore, physicals blockers are mineral and they protect the skin from the sun by blocking the sun’s rays. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the sun’s rays.
The consistency of this cream is good, I feel like it somehow hydrate my skin. It’s not too thick and it doesn’t leave a white cast after application or have flashback in photos. The skin absorbs this product well and it doesn’t feel greasy at all!
For the price, I would say it’s worth every penny…50ML is a good amount and there’s still so much product left in the tube. Overall, after 4 months of use, I can safely say that is a holy grail product for me and I will definitely repurchase…living in the Middle East requires SPF on a daily basis and this will help my skin stay youthful and happy 🙂 There was no dryness of cracking this summer, so I am totes a happy camper!
I’m not a huge makeup girl…by all means. I do not like to spend times prepping and primping myself in the AM. I just like to add a little mascara and a colored matte lipstick and this does the trick. But for some reason…I wanted to get on the bronzer train because I knew I was moving to the Middle East and having a glow and bronzy skin would look killer…you know without having to expose myself to the sun too too much. SOooOO, then I came across this bad boy…the Sun-kissed Blur Perfector by Yves Saint Laurent! OMG!!!! Like this is just so creamy and so amazing. It’s rich, it’s glowy, it’s bronzy and it’s beautiful in the most subtle, natural way. It’s not crazy orange and it does not make you look like David Hasselhoff. A little goes a long long way.
I just for kick decided to invest in a 55$ bronzer that wasn’t very necessary for me to have., but when I tried it, I knew that it was going to be a long-term relationship. I cannot explain how this makes the skin look..I mean it claims to blur imperfections, to diminish the size of your pores and smooth out the skin…I don’t really see the hiding imperfection part because I do not have many at the moment as my skin is doing great..but it does somehow smooth out the skin. It came with a small and thin contour brush but I didn’t like the grip on it and so I decided to invest in a good brush as well…with is this lovely solid PRO Contour Sweep brush from Sephora. It’s a whooping 43$ but it’s totes worth it in my opinion…only because I bought it when there was the 20% off deal. It’s a brush that I will keep in my collection for a very long time! The bristles are soft but they are packed so tight that they’re firm enough to blend out your cream or powder bronzer to perfection.
I do have to admit that going to so many weddings this summer gave me a little positive oomph and energy to perfect my makeup application skills and I do have to admit that I came a long way from where I was before. I am now a highlighter whore…omg, what a shame! But it does look freaking awesome with a sexy tan.
I know that my pan looks grubby and disgusting but as you can see above it is well loved and well used. The sun-kiss blur perfector really does give you a sun-kissed look..as you can see in my little swatch above, it adds just a small hint of bronzed color to my skin and the amazing part of it is that you can go light or heavy on it..so sometimes, I end up contouring with it whenever I sport a turban look and other times, I just add it across my nose and cheeks to give just a hint of bronzed glow. There’s however one small negative comment about this and it is definitely the smell…I have no idea why high end brands love to stuff their products with a tons of old granny/floral-y smells which is quite a turn off really…but I get passed that because the smell doesn’t linger.
Now, do I recommend this? A big yes, if you’re looking to invest in a good creamy bronzer, then do it, buy this and enjoy it..because YOLO! one obviously because it’s a freaking amazing product and well worth it!
A classic red lip is always a good idea to finish up a glamorous outfit! I always had a super special place in my heart for a red lip. It’s the effortless way to make any look extra polished. It’s always a good idea to opt for a cool Parisian vibe. 2 minutes and voila, you head out the door looking like the hottest woman in town. I always like to opt for a matte lip color, because I find it suits me better.
But how, oh, how do you find the perfect shade for you??? I know red lipstick can be tricky and some people might think that it doesn’t work for them..but that’s wrong. You can find the perfect shade for you depending on your skin tone. The undertone of your skin is important when choosing lip colors, especially darker colors. You are either a cool (pink), neutral or warm (yellow) undertone . Eventually, you will discover through trial and error what your undertone is. Or, you could always ask for assistance at any beauty counter.
A good and simple way to know if the red color works for you…you just smile and see if the lip color emphasizes the whiteness/yellowness of your teeth. If your teeth appear whiter, then you know that the color you picked is perfect for you.
As you all know, obviously, the red lipstick has been an iconic beauty staple since Ancient Egypt…So, here are my picks:
The Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are honestly the best of the best lipsticks out there. one major reason why I love these so much is that they’re in pencil form, which means that you don’t need a lip liner. For anyone who’s lazy, like me, will love this. The formula is amazing! It’s outstanding even! These pencils offer a matte lip, but they are infused with Vitamin E and that offers a ton of moisture. You don’t have that icky cracky feeling. They’re so velvety as the name suggests; they glide on like butter when applied. My go-to Narsred lip color is Cruella. I love this color because it’s a cherry red and it works perfect with my skin tone. It’s matte, it’s pigmented and it stays on for hours. This is a total win-win product!
I know I was kinda bashing the Stilamascara in my last post, but this product is amaaaazing! The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is seriously no joke. OMG!! This is seriously a long lasting lipstick…like all day and the day after even. I put it on, ate, took my shower, came out and it was still there….beautifully intact. Beso is a beautiful true red color. I believe it would suits loads of skin tone. It’s super bright and super red. These lipsticks are creamy and are super full-coverage. It’s also matte, yayy!!! The texture is comfortable and it feels lightweight on lips. So far, this red color is aces!!! I cannot stop loving this. Bonus: It is enriched with vitamin E and avocado oil…so there, your lips will for sure be happy.
Colourpop…ugh! Such a good brand and super affordable! This yet another beautiful matte red color I go for on a daily basis. Bossy is a blue red, which suits warmer skin tones better. It’s a gorgeous matte formula that doesn’t dry out the lips. For it’s huge 5$ US price tag, it delivers what it promises…giving you luscious matte red lips’ lips that aren’t cracked or dry. The only down-side to this is the fact that you need to reapply a lot for often than the other 2 brands I mentioned above. But, honestly, for the price.. I can’t complain.
Last, but definitely not least, the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème Lipsticks are to die for! If I had to choose one makeup brand to use for the rest of my life, it would totes be Marc Jacobs. Goddess is a bright red, almost with a gold undertone. It’s the very definition of a yummy luxurious lipstick. Marc is my man! He’s got the formulas all done; from lipstick to eye shadows to eyeliners…Goddessis a creamy lipstick that delivers indulgent color that lasts all day long. The pgmentation is insane! Anddd the formula is triple-milled and is enriched with hydrating ingredients. Helllooo moisture! My favorite part about this range is obviously the packaging; it’s super sleek, sexy and it’s magnetic (no fear of it opening randomly in your bag).
If any of you are looking for a statement, signature red lipstick…then definitely check these out! They’re super worth it for one and they’re the perfect way to make any outfit and any makeup look punchier.
I’m not one to spend so much money on little gadgets and beauty tools…but my skin had a little bit of unwanted texture over the end of the summer and carried on like this till October. It was gross to the touch; almost felt like a sidewalk or something. I used to wash my face with the Olay Pro-X Microdermabrasion Plus Advanced Cleansing System for the longest time and I was quite satisfied with it. However, when I felt like my skin got drier and more sensitive, I knew that the bristles were irritation and stripping my skin for its natural oils. I stopped it for a while but I couldn’t get rid of the dead skin. I had seen and heard about the Luna device but never wanted to invest it because of the steep price (299$). I heard so many people rave about it and swear by it in their daily skincare routines. When I got notification of a 20% discount at the Sephora VIB Rouge sale, I though this is the chance to risk it and try it out. It’s now or never!
I wanted to try the product for a little while before I shared my opinion and thoughts with you guys. I have been using it for a little over 3 months now and it is safe to say that this little baby changed my life. Literally! It helped improve my skin texture, remove dirt gently, exfoliate lightly and improve circulation. I can honeslty attest that the Foreo Luna 2 changed the way I clean my skin! It’s super safe to use on sensitive, eczema-prone skin. ANDDD I use it morning and night! So far, my skin loves it.
A The Luna is made with a thick silicone material, which makes it easy to clean, easy to use and makes it gentle on the skin. It’s waterproof! So it’s totes safe to use freely under water…which I don’t usually do, but this is a good option to have. The device comes with 2 sides, the one with the little bristles and the one with the big waves. One side for cleaning and one side for massaging your products into your skin. I do not ever use that side, but that’s an option for those who want to get the full experience. This device pulsates and allows you to clean your skin everywhere on a timed frame…which means that you do not over-clean and strip your skin or hurt it.
Now, this device claims to help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and it helps obtain radiant, firm, youthful-looking skin. Now, I don’t know about the wrinkles and fine line, but I do know that I have radiant, healthier looking skin. What I like about it is the shape, I feel like its shape is perfect enough for you to get those little narrow ridges clean. Like around your nose or under your lips. It honestly feel like you’re getting a baby massage every time you clean your face. It gives you the right amount of clean with the right amount of fresh and plump. I feel like products skin better and absorb better with the help of this device.
I am super surprised that I would like this so much, but I really do! Plus I do not have to change batteries or charge it. I have been on the same charge for the past 3 months. This is always a plus for me!
If you’re looking into investing in the Luna device, I recommend it! Annnnd on top of it, there’s a little offer right now on the Sephora website, where you can get the Luna in a package with products for 199$. They have the sensitive skin one and the combination skin one.
It’s truly a good investment, especially that it gives you results. It’s totes a keeper!
This is my second ever Tarte purchase. I used their Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara for a little while until I switched to my favorite Marc Jacobs one. It was a really nice mascara, I’m think to go back to it for a little while…
Anyway, I decided to invest in one of their blushes (it’s like 35$ CAD a pop!), because apparently they’re super amazing with pigmentation and color choices. So I took the plunge and got myself Captivating (based on some color swatches on the Sephora website). It was a bit of a risk to purchase a color not knowing if it would suit my skin tone or not…However, once I received it, I quickly swatched it on my hand.
The blush is so buttery and very pigmented! I just need to gently tap my brush into the pan and apply it using a stippling motion because it allows me to control how much blush I put on. Because they are so pigmented, a little goes a long way! Captivating is a peachy bright blush, which I find nice for both day and night, depending on how much you put on. I have a light hand when it comes to blush because I don’t want it to look crazy (I have been guilty of looking clownish :S).
I have an olive skin-tone and sometimes I find that peach doesn’t look that great on me. But this color is soooo beautiful on. My skin tone loves this baby! I’m super happy that I took the plunge and I would definitely purchase more from that range. What I also love about the blush is that there is no shimmer in it, so it looks more natural on the skin.
I can confidently say that Tarte Amazonian clay blushes are definitely SUPERIOR in terms of texture, pigmentation, and staying power. I am sure to invest in more colors!
As y’all know by now..it’s winter out there :p DAH! And it’s that dreaded time again of dry dry parched skin. Hello fish scaley skin…goodbye beautiful glow. Wah wah! But wait, you don’t need to suffer if you find the perfect moisturizer to salvage your skin from its unruly behavior. I was searching for weeks for that perfect remedy to soothe my painfully dry skin…until I stumbled onto this little baby on the Sephora website. I read loads of reviews before I took the plunge. I mean, I did not want to invest into something not knowing if it would give me results.
Well, The Youth To The PeopleKale + Spinach Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Moisture Cream is the BOMBBBB. That’s a mouthful! It seriously made a huge difference on the texture I had on my skin. The reason why I was ready to invest in this is purely for the story behind the brand! Youth to the People is a family owned company that formulates, makes, and packages its products in California. The veggies extracts are cold pressed and sourced in the US. What really really sold me on this is the fact that their products are free of added color and fragrance, they’re 100 percent vegan and they never test on animals. Yay!!! The cousin duo has got it all down. Oh oh!! And their packing is made from recycled materials! Bonus and bonus!
This is a multifunction, lightweight face cream loaded with superfoods—kale, spinach, and green tea—and hyaluronic acid to moisturize skin. This is the answer and the solution to dryness, to fine lines and wrinkles and to replenish loss of firmness and elasticity.
This 2.0 oz pot runs for 48$ CAD but it is totes worth it. It is packed with green leafy superfoods which help restore, rejuvenate, and condition the skin. What I love about this is that it’s lightwieght. It feels like a bit like a gel; its whipped texture is quick absorbing. All the potent nutrients inside this little pot deliver antioxidants and phytonutrients to protect against free radicals, environmental stresses, and redness. The hyaluronic acid hydrates and locks in your skin’s natural moisture. The refreshing, subtle scent is naturally derived from the extracts. It’s not heavy…so all you sensitive nosed people out there, don’t you worry, this smell fascinating.
I never was a SPF girl because I always thought it wasn’t necessary as long as I do not hang too much in the sun. But that has been quite impossible these past few months since I have been traveling a lot to the Middle East. My skin texture was affected way too much by the unprotected sun exposure. So I figured, it is really time to invest in a good SPF that will not break me out or leave a white cast on my face. A couple of weeks ago, I went into Sephora looking for that perfect SPF cream. There was a wonderful beauty adviser that showed me a couple, but ended up suggesting this one:
Clarins’ Multi-Protection Tinted Sunscreen is exactly what I have been looking for. I give me SPF 40 protection and a little tint without being too heavy or without making me look like I am wearing makeup.
It’s a super lightweight formula! It’s the perfect year-round, oil-free SPF 40 anti-pollution sunscreen. What I love about this is that it shields the skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, pollution, and free radicals ANDDD it lightly covers the skin.
I got this at a local Sephora and unfortunately cannot find it online. The Sephora online website has the regular Clarins SPF (not tinted). But it would be available here for those who are interested. You pay 42$ for 1.7oz. A little goes a long way and so, for the price, you get quite a bit of product. I have been using it for about 2 months now on a daily basis and still have loads left!
I recommend this product if you’re looking for a powerful sunscreen formula that acts as an slightly tinted shield. It will definitely help protect the skin from the appearance of dark spots and future aging. It delivers broad-spectrum protection and antioxidant defense. This formula is formulated without parabens and it is dermatologist tested! It is also oil-free which is perfect for those with oily and combination skin. It leaves you matte without too much shine.
The only small thing that I hate about this is that when my face is really dry, it shows too much on my cracked skin. So for those who suffer from dry skin need to moisturize deeply before applying this. Other than that, this is a great product to add in your skin regimen.
So if any of you are in the market for a new SPF, I recommend this little baby! You will not regret it!
Yesterday I shared my September fashion favorites and today I wanted to share my top 5 beauty favorites of the month. Products I have been giving extra love to. Although this month has been really rough on my skin, I have managed to keep things under control. For some weird reason, my skin is super super dry, which means it’s super prone to crack and break, which in turn mean it’s super prone to breaking out because dirt get in easy. This leads to me talk about my first favorite because it sincerely saved me from turning into a pizza face again.
GM Collin’s Hyrdamucin Optimal Serum
This literally saved my scaly flaking skin! It made my skin’s textured less abrasive and less bumpy. My skin was lacking loads of moisture and this serum helped in restoring it. The serum is not too heavy and it has a gel consistency. It sinks into the skin beautifully, does not leave any oily residue and smells super wonderful. This is perfect for all skin types and is beneficial to drier skins because it reinforces the skin’s moisture barrier by hydration. The long lasting moisturization increases the skin’s ability recover and bam!!! you get smooth and healthy looking skin. I got this baby for about 65$ CAD but you can find it on AMAZON for a little cheaper.
Regenerative Nourishment Serum-in-Oil
A super little product! It does what it promises to do. It totes rescues the hair and restores its healthy appearance. IT makes the hair so soooofft!!! I cannot tell you enough how soft my hair has become since using this. After I wash my hair, I spread three to four pumps of serum-in-oil between my hands and run them through my hair; I usually like to concentrate on the tips (which are usually the most damaged). The little bad boy is a savior! You should try it and you will not regret it. And it’s not expensive! You can buy this in any pharmacy or right here.
Tea Tree oil
Coming back to my naughty face…this little potent monster was a must for me this month. It kept the little white heads at bay and helped heal pimples without damaging my skin. When I say it’s potent, I mean it! And you need to be careful using this because it could damage you skin instead of helping it. I usually like to put some tea tree oil on little cotton pad, breaking it with warm water, and then leave the wet pad on the affected area for a little bit. You’ll see that you wake up the next morning and the stubborn pimples say goodbye. You can get this at any pharmacy and it’s not pricey or you can shop for some at AMAZON.
The perfect Bite Set & KAT VON D Studded Kiss lipstick
And the award for best lipsticks goes to the perfect Bite set and Kat Von D’s Cathedral. I am cheating here and adding 2 lip products because I have been wearing these and only these this month. Between the lip kit and the studded kiss lipstick, I haven’t done anything else. The Bite Amuse Bouche lipsticks are divine!! They’re moisturizing, they have a creamy finish and they’re simply delicious. They’re comfortable to wear all day! My favorite out of this little kit is Pepper. It ‘s like my lips but better and I love it!!! Kat Von D’s cathedral is a beautiful borwny nudeish color which I have already spoken about in a previous blog post. They’re both sample sizes and I will definitely repurchase these in full size.
Sephora’s Waterproof eye makeup remover
This is one is a solid! It removes your makeup flawlessly. Great product really. I got this as a sample but I love it so much, I might purchase this one in full size. It’s the best makeup remover I have used to date and it doesn’t hurt or irritate my sensitive eczema prone skin. A tiny amount goes a long way and it’s affordable compared to other brands I have used in the past. The Sephora Waterproof Remover gets five stars on my end.
⊗ ⊗ ⊗
So these are the 5…6 beauty products I have been loving this month and I will continue to use on the daily. I am not much of a makeup user but I do adore my mascaras and lip colors. You will never (or almost never) see me use foundation, because I am not interested in blurring my skin. It’s not a judgement; it’s just a question of preference. But I do love to read everyone’s reviews about them…because it keeps me abreast of what’s nice out there.
