Wine Stock; burgundy love!

Been going nude for a little while now, on the nails that is (I mean duh! What were you guys thinking?!). I wasn’t really inspired lately to do any nail art/color for a while. Last time I had any lacquer on was on my wedding day (July) and this is the color I have been obsessing over for the past month. I have had it on and off on my nails and I love it; it’s such a fall/winter/Christmas-y color. I love burgundy in general, hence the theme to my wedding. I find burgundy to be such a luxurious color, whether in veils, dresses, skirt or even nails. There’s just something about it that captivates my heart. I mean it’s like a hybrid between a red and a purple, but it has a life of its own and it’s proud and awesome. I chose a couple of different tones of burgundy while wedding shopping a few months ago…one from Essie, one from Nails Inc and one from Ciaté, but the one I fell in love with was this one from Sally Hansen. I found that it was more red toned and that’s exactly what I was looking for; didn’t really want the purple undertone as my nails needed to match my shoes!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line is basically the next best thing to a salon gel manicure. I am always afraid to get those and ruin my nail beds forever. So without taking a risk, you can easily just use this range and be sure to get the salon results in the comfort of your home. Also, there’s no light needed, just two simple steps; first apply the colour and then stroke a little of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat over the top. The color I chose from this range is Wine stock; it’s wonderful on the nails, one coat is more than enough and the shine is there. This color is subtle yet festive, if you know what I mean. I know that it’s a two-step process, however, I just went in with my Seche Vite after that and it’s all good in the hood and I still get the gel effect without the heaping salon price. Also, on a little side not, I usually don’t use gloves to do my house chores and so, having my hand in the bleach and the water doesn’t change the longevity of the nail polish so much. I will have a few chips by day 10, but for the most part, the color is still there and my nails still look good.

I have been a Sally Hansen fan since my college days, and I like the brand very much, especially the nail vitamins they have; they really do work! They have over 40 nail care products offering solutions for every nail care problem. I know that Essie is somewhat comparable, however, I find that Essie colors don’t last on my nails as much as the Sally ones do and it’s weird… maybe it’s just me?!

So, why pay big bucks if you can get beautiful quality lacquers at the drugstore for an affordable price.

What are you favourite nail colors? I would like to know in a comment down below!!!

Noël…Going incognito!

I am Muslim, but I grew up in Canada with Christian friends and so, Christmas is a very festive period for me as well. I just feel nostalgic when December hits because it brings every good memory I had growing up. The snow, the merry people, the festive ambiance, the music and of course the ugly sweaters! How can Christmas happen without the ugly sweater! Since, I do not celebrate Christmas or need to wear an ugly sweater any time soon, I decided to paint my nail green. Yes green! It’s the perfect deep emerald green color you can possibly find. I am so in love with this color, I can do it on the daily.

Going incognito is a deep green color, almost forest-like. Reminds me of pine trees and the merry jolly times of the year. It’s a GORGEOUS teal-ish emerald green that has enough blue in it to prevent it from being too “boring” or too”flat.” The formula is wonderful. It’s opaque by 1 coat. You can definitely get away with 1, if you’re an intermediate/advanced painter. I, personally, always do 2 coats for evenness.

Since this nail lacquer is part of the 2010 collection…you will probably only find it at Amazone online. But, if you’re looking to wear something festive on your nails this season, then I would recommend you go for colors like Stylenomics, Trophy wife or Off Tropics!

If you can get your hands on Going incognito, buy it! You will definitely not regret it!

OPI’s Going My Way Or Norway

Every time I put this color on, I cannot stop looking at my nails…I just can’t even!!! OMG, I was always afraid of wearing brown…but when I came across this OPI color…I just had to try it. It’s such a beautiful nudish brown that actually compliments my olive skin tone. It’s not too pale and not too dark and so it doesn’t wash me out. It’s just the perfect borwny neutraly nudish color for me….It has been my favorite for a while and I keep going for it. I usually go for 1 or 2 coats maximum. It is good enough for it to be completely opaque. OPI’s Going My Way or Norway? Is definitely my favorite color for the moment and I will be over wearing it ˂3

And what I love about the neutral shade is that it’s elegant, very discreet and versatile. You don’t even have to worry about the fact that your nail color does not match your outfits. Plus, it’s trendy…soooo double bonus.

I also wanted to take the time to talk about Seche Vite. Like a mini review type of talk… OMGGG it really does dry your nail polish quickly…hence the French name: Seche vite (Dry fast). The perfect top coat for girls who are too busy to wait for their nail polish to dry. Seriously works like magic!! I tell you!!!! I just put it on after painting my nails, and then a few seconds later, my nails were perfectly dry. I am so amazed and I will use this all the time. It’s such a revelation for me!!

Let me know what you think and what nail color you’re obsessing over at the moment…

Cheers xo
