That 80s sweater….

We visited Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue today and it was the perfect weather to walk along the river…it wasn’t too cold nor too hot. Hubs and I walked around the city and enjoyed the local market area where there was a bazaar supporting local farmers and small businesses . We ate some handmade gelato and it was amazing! The sun was bright and shining and the bees and butterflies were out to play.

The foliage was remarkable and there still loads of green left in the scenery. The air smelt nice and the breeze was just super yummy! There were loads of people walking around and enjoying family time. There were even people taking advantage of the mild weather to ride their boats (perhaps) one last time before winter.

Hubs and I also took the time to go to Nova (the vintage/thrift shop) in Sainte-Anne…and I ended up buying a few items and I cannot wait to share them soon..EEEKK!!!

Can’t make this post without also sharing my outfit of the day…and I wore vintage! I got this sweater a few winters’s a beautiful hand knit sweater made in Hong Kong. It’s honestly very heavy and you can see that it is worked meticulously. It’s a rare and wonderful piece to own. I have posted it for sale for the moment on my Etsy page (for those interested).

TOP: Vintage Nannell sweater ♦ PANTS: Thrifted Buffolo (straight leg cut) ♦ BELT: Calvin Klein ♦ SHOES: Converse ♦ BAG: Cole Haan ♦ SUNGLASSES: Forever 21

I’ve been enjoying wearing straight leg jeans/looser jeans…they’re much more comfortable and I feel like I have abused the skinnies a little bit too much. The ones I am wearing in this blog are thrifted…and they were longer and so I cut them and let the bottom hem frayed. DIYing is a super easy way to give the illusion of having loads of items in your closet…but you’re just really pimping what you got. I have been into this at the moment..I haven’t really actually shopped in real store or malls in a while..I would say a good 5 months. Thrifting has been taking a lot of my time lately and revamping my clothes even more. Why not make your things unique and leave your own touch. It really doesn’t cost much.

I will share some of my DIY items that I worked on lately in up coming posts…right now I am loving documenting about our travels and discoveries.

I have been pimping loads of my denim items and some items I have had for ages…so I figured why not make them new again. You’ll see them soon!!!

No Denim challenge: Day 7 (OOTD)

As the final day of the no denim challenge hits, momma decided to hit full throttle and go full out and dress as though she going to dinner with Tom Hanks (hints of exaggeration right here…but that’s pretty fancy for where I was going). I wanted to have my last outfit be cool and chic and complex yet simple. So, I thought about layering in volumes; airy and breezy. I also wanted the whole look to be monochrome (sorta) but with a pop of red on my lips. I haven’t worn red lips in a while and was in the mood for them. Red lips, for some reason, always give me an extra added power and confidence.

TOP: Ipekzade (from Turkey) ♠ PANTS: Zara ♠ SHOES: Aldo ♠ BELT: Vintage ♠ BAG: Nine West ♠ EARRINGS: Etsy

I love how the top when cinched in with the bet created a similar kind of waves as the pants and this is exactly how I envisioned the outfit to be. I didn’t want to stray off too far away from the colors I was wearing and so I added this faux snake leather clutch from Nine West. I could potentially consider this as a vintage piece because I own it since 2005. My sister got it for me as a gift when I was in university and looking for special pieces to build my “adult/party” wardrobe with. Love you sissy! She always knows what I love and gets me the coolest pieces.

Although this challenge was pretty awesome and wearing no denim forced me to be completely creative and a little out of my lazy comfort zone, it feels great to end it as well. I miss my jeans and I am ready to go back to them for a little bit now.

Dressing up always adds a little something special in my gives me confidence and a boost to face the world and follow my dreams.

It’s the 70s…Bardot style!

My mom have had these sunglasses in her drawer forever. I remember seeing them in photos of her wearing them so effortlessly and chicly. Always found my mom such a babe! With her mini skirts and long hair…classic. So, recently, my mom came to me giving me her 70s Brigitte Bardot sunnies so I can sell them. I totes refused! It would be a real crime if I did that! I mean come on! Look at them! They’re beautiful!!! I can’t even.

Since it hasn’t been the greatest weather in Montreal, I wasn’t able to wear them much. But this morning, the sun peaked through and I took advantage of that to wear this baby. However, the weather cheated me yet again and it started raining in the afternoon. What a shame (not really, because I am a big pluviophile). At least I got to wear them for a little bit. These are Brigitte Bardot with the classic BB logo on the side temples. Originally, they were designed by Ted Lapidus, a French fashion designer who then, in his career, decided to venture into accessories.

Bardot was always on point in her style; always perfection without too much effort put into her outfits. Her style was timeless. As I was inspired by the sunnies, I decided to go a little bit on the 70s side and wear some tartan and a loose, gypsy, boho shirt. This is how my outfit came out.

Obviously, I so wasn’t going to do heels today, because I definitely wasn’t feeling it. I made the 70s work by adding my own twist. I went with my most worn item (lately); my white leather converse. I borrowed a vintage jacket from a friend and went super simple in the rest of the look.

What I wore:

JACKET: Vintage leather-borrowed ∞ SHIRT: Como Black ∞ PANTS: Thrifted  NECKLACE: Vintage (find it in my store) ∞ SHOES: Converse

In this outfit, there was flare, print, texture and most definitely comfort. I felt 70s in my own way. I didn’t particularly feel like this was my favorite outfit of all time, but it was good enough for today and the way I was feeling. Just  a little side note, I freaking absolutely love this white shirt! It’s everything. I was looking for the perfect white shirt forever until this baby. I will get loads of wear out of this one this summer!

Shades of pink

The weather is weird in Montreal lately…sometimes it’s hot, sometimes it’s cold…sometimes it’s meh! So anyway, I don’t even know what to wear anymore because the weather is up and down. It feels like fall-ish…the transition period is taking forever to get over.  Ok, I am done with my weather rant. I usually never rant about the weather because I love it in very possible way. But my favorite season is fall and it doesn’t feel like fall yet! But then I decided to wear fall colors in a summery kinda way….and this was my outfit for the day; perfect for the office or for a dinner.

So I wanted to wear a patterned outfit but in a fall kind of way. What better than these green/brown Zara pants?!! I bought them last year and wore them a couple of time. They’re trousers, so I don’t reach for them much, just because I’m always a denim kinda girl. I like it simple and crisp! But sometimes, I like to dress fancy and this outfit is on that side of the spectrum. So I paired them with a light pink chiffon shirt I bought this summer from my Jordan travels from a local shop. It was the last one on the mannequin and I decided…Yes! I need a pink shirt, because I really wear pink.  What cool about it is that there are sequin inserts on the sleeves for a chic look. You can super dress this shirt up or down and that’s why I decided to invest in it.

To end my outfit and bring everything together, I wore my velvet burgundy heels which I wore to my engagement/wedding. They’re so comfortable and super stylish…especially with the gold rim, it adds an oomph to every outfit!

So that was it for my #ootd! Let me know what you guys think in a comments below!

Neon light…

I’ve been carrying this bag for a little while now and I absolutly love it. It’s definitly a love or hate item. You either want to have it in your life…or you just walk past it. I purchased this baby like 2 years ago from Coach as it was hugely discounted. I knew I was taking a risk because the color is too different and it’s not everyone’s taste. I for sure hear loads of sarcastic comments about how bright it is and how much I stop traffic…but hey, that doesn’t stop me from wearing it! Anyway, here’s how I wore my baby.

I wore a long striped shirt…y’all know how I feel about them <3 I can be in striped everything from head-t0-toe…but I am making huge efforts not to look like a freak! So I paired my dress shirt with a denim pencil skirt and a black bodysuit. To tie in the look I wore a statement necklace to bring in all the colors together. It’s for sure a casual dressy look; it’s comfortable yet different and unique.

What I wore in detail:

Sunday Cathedral

I got this lipstick in a points exchange while shopping at Sephora. I was always curious to know what the hype was all about with the Kat Von D line. I never actually purchased any product from there because I was and always will be a Marc Jacobs kindda gal. So since this was available to try, I figured why not give it a go. The leather little pouch came with 2 eyeliners in the color black and brown and with a little lipstick sample in the color “Cathedral

The color is a matte brown with a rose undertone color. It’s beautiful! I always wanted to try brown but was scared it would make me look dead since I am olive skin toned. But when I first put on this color, I felt like it really complimented my skin tone rather than making me look fad and zombie-like. What I love about it is that it’s brown but not super brown. It’s soft on the lips and hydrating…does not dry out your lips nor irritate them. The full size lipstick runs for 26$ CAD in Sephora. It’s part of the Studded Kiss Lipstick collection. Now here’s the real question…would I purchase this in full size? I say yes I definitely would. I am super in live with it and this color makes me happy despite the fact that it’s a neutral.

Now this lipstick color inspired me to dress like a free spirited animal..and this is what my outfit looked like today:

What I wore:

Gap Overall – Thrifted leopard print top – Zara bow shoes (I got while on vacation in Jerusalem) – Kate Spade sunglasses.

Have you guys tried the Kat Von D lipsticks and if yes, which ones did you like?? Leave me a comment below so I can try out more.

Until next time,

The nude edit!

I’ve been feeling the nude lip for a while now and so far my favorite go to lippie product is Mac’s Faux. It’s a cream finish lipstick that keeps your lips hydrate throughout the day. This muted mauvey pinky color is perfect for everyday use. I sometimes wear it with a little bit of lip gloss over it. It costs 21$ CAD and it truly lasts ages. I uses this on a daily basis and I still have loads left in the tube.

This lip stick makes me feel extra girly and this is how I decided to dress up today:

This is cutest shirt I own!!! I love it and I wish I would own it in 99 different colors. Not only does it make me feel girly and pretty, but it makes me feel like a million dollars. I got this a little while ago from Topshop and what I fell in love with was the back slit and the pleating. The back design adds a Je ne sais quoi to it. The price is a little steep for a simple shirt but because I knew I loved it, I couldn’t resit paying the 80$. I was going to return it and left it in my closet for a while before finally deciding that I was going to keep it. I know that I will get a lot of wear out of it. The design is so unique that it convinced me to keep it.

This is what I paired the lipstick and the  Topshop shirt with:

-Red Zara pants I have had for ages.
-Jessica Simpson clog sandals.
-Aldo sunglasses.
-Coach bag.

If you’re into nude lipstick at the moment; which one is your favorite…share it with me in a comment below.

Engagement party: take 2!

I guess I get to be special and I get to be celebrated twice…I am such a brat!!! Actually, the only reason why I am getting a second engagement party is for the pure fact that I couldn’t celebrate with all my sisters by my side this summer…so my momma took it upon herself to do another one for all girls party for my sisters, our close friends and I. It was this past weekend and omg I had loads and loads of fun. The DJ was the bomb! She was on cue and her music choice were great; had me dancing all night. My friends on I were on the dance floor the whole time. Anyway, back to the point of this blog…I finally got the chance to wear a dress I owned for a while but never had the chance or occasion to put it.

At the party, everyone asked me if the dress was traditional…but this is how it goes: this dress is a twist on what’s usually traditional for us. We wear head to toe embroidered tunic and let me tell you that they are quite heavy. So this dress captures the essence of the embroidered element of our culture. I sincerely felt happy in it and just super me. It’s colorful, it’s pretty, it’s feminine and it’s happy! It’s one darn happy dress <3

So here it is:

Sorry for the blurry pics…I was way to excited in this number and my sister gave up on me!! x)

I got this dress for my birthday and I was so ecstatic to get it and add this in my collection as it is an exquisite piece…so rich in heritage and culture yet so modern and chic.

Hope you guys enjoyed this look as much as I did!!

The dress I fell in love with

I was walking around downtown Amman and I came across a really cute tiny clothing store..that had unique items and fashion pieces. When I asked the sales associate where they imported the pieces from, he told me they locally made them in Jordan. I was so excited to come across this store because it supported local designer and that to me is always a plus when I go shopping. The fashion industry is made of bug sharks and little fish and I love the little fish. I love supporting them!

Anyway, back the the shopping…I had liked a lot of items in the store..but on my way out, I spotted this dress and then I died. I knew I needed it in my life. I mean, it’s really simple and modest in design but it just screamed my name. It’s stylish, comfortable, summery, girly and very versatile. I know I can get a lot of wear out of this baby. I can wear it with heels, flats and even sneakers and it would still look smashing. I can accessorize it however I want because of it’s neutral color.

And this is how I decided to wear it!

What I wore:

– Dress from Amman, Jordan (local boutique).
– Necklace from Jerusalem (Antique and Vintage collectibles).
Jessica Simpson Clog Sandals.
– Aldo sunglasses.

What do you guys think of the dress? Is it a yay or a nay?
