Did motherhood change my style?

I know I haven’t gone out loads lately but on the days I do, I keep asking myself, would I wear this? Would I wear that again? So I couldn’t help but wonder, did motherhood change my style? I mean, yes, I have a daughter to take of, but there’s me too. Clothes, fashion, colors, textures…that’s what truly made me happy, so why haven’t I been indulging and digging into the depth of my wardrobe to dress up and spruce up and feel pretty? Many days, I am not going to lie, I felt pretty shitty about myself, not feeling pretty anymore or lacking the enthusiasm to actually look half decent. I smelled like milk for the first few weeks and had spit-up milk all over and whenever I had the chance to finally shower, the process started all over again and I felt like I might never recover or get back to the old me. I mean do you really go back to the old you after having a baby? Sofia has been nothing but a blessing in my life and smelling like milk didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. As long as baby was happy, I was happy? But that didn’t mean that I should neglect myself and not make efforts to look and feel pretty. It was vital and important for me to get back into the swing of things because I didn’t want my daughter growing up and seeing me that way. I want my daughter to look at me and be like, yes; momma took care of me but took care of herself too.

IMG_5758

Today I was able to go out with baby monster for a friend visit and I felt a little more confident in my new role as a mum. Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed and don’t know how to take care of things, mainly because anxiety takes over but the more I let the negativity go, the more I feel like I am in control and feel like motherhood isn’t as scary as we all think. Dressing up plays a big part in my confidence and when I feel pretty, I feel like I can conquer the world. Today I opted for an effortless casual look. Since it’s getting colder out, I wore wool pants that I thrifted a while back and the fact that they’re high waisted, so I feel a little more comfortable with the remains of my stretched little mushy tummy. I added more pink, who am I?? I guess having a girl has given me the love of pink back, although she’s always in grey. LOL! I couldn’t go about town without my Gazelle trainers; they’re the most practical, most comfortable most badass shoe I own at the moment! I having been wearing them a ton lately and I don’t see myself wearing anything else. I feel like such a cool mom with them!

WHAT I WORE

JACKET: Zara • SWEATER: Centerpoint (Jordan) • PANTS: Zara (trhifted) • SHOES: Adidas (Gazelle) • BAG: Gift from Le hubby • SUNNIES: Aldo

IMG_5790

So, I guess, although motherhood somewhat changed my style in terms of practicality, I still do feel like I can get away with wearing a short skirt and knee-high boots if I wanted to! I still do love color and my experimenting game with different patterns and textures is still going strong. I don’t think we should use motherhood as an excuse to stop looking after ourselves and dress pretty or sexy or hot because we are the reflection of our daughters’ future and we have to give them something positive to look forward to. The most important thing is that you should always dress up for yourself first and then to impress others.

Top 6: Favorite items in my shoe wardrobe!

When I was younger I had a massive shoe obsession and I might even have considered going to Anonyms Groups to get rid of that addiction. I remember when I was in university, I would always make time to venture into Holt Renfrew to go up to the third floor and simply look at the beautiful designer shoes on display. I may have purchased a few back then. Any regrets you say? No, because I got to try it all! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Holt, well then, get acquainted, because it is the mecca for luxury retail. I don’t really shop there anymore, but I still like to have a look-see once in a while, because browsing is free! Anyway, I am now much better in terms of buying and collecting shoes, I am more responsible and I also take into consideration (very much so) the comfort element.

IMG_9947

If I were to live with only 6 pairs of shoes; they would be it and I will tell you why!

⊕ ⊕ ⊕

#1 The Passe-PartoutIMG_9936

These white leather Chuck Taylor Converse shoes are the epitome of street fashion. They pretty much go with anything from dresses to skirts to jeans to dress smart pants. I love how versatile they are and the white make them even more cool. I know that black usually goes with everything, but I have managed to were these babies out with many outfits. They’re a little difficult to keep clean, but there’s nothing a magic eraser can’t fix! I have had his for a little bit less than a year but to be honest, I took them everywhere with me from Jordan to Canada to Palestine. Super comfortable and super worth the investment. It’s like the perfect badass girl item that gives you a little bit of attitude with a little bit of sass.

#2 The Fashion Forward MuleIMG_9938
I, for the life of me, cannot explain the weird fascination I have with wooden heel mules. Since I was little, I have always wanted to own them…and I remember at 8 years old arguing with my mum as to why she didn’t want to buy me a pair. She was exasperated and probably wished I was a boy. LOLZ. She kept telling me that little girls don’t wear wooden heels for unexplained reasons. Still puzzled here. Well, now, I did my younger self a huge favor and bought these Jessica Simpson mules and have had them in my wardrobe for about 2 years. I know that people usually buy them as trend pieces, but for me they’re timeless because, well, I don’t really care much about following trends. Just freaking dress the way you want ladies! Period! I couldn’t possibly live without these in my shoe wardrobe and I got a lot of wear out of them…even to fancy dinners and with dresses! The fact that they’re black also helps to mix them and match them to every outfit I own. To buy a similar one, find it here.

#3 The Special Occasion Heel IMG_9939

Whenever I need to wear heels to a special occasion, I always get these ones out. Purely because they’ve definitely got that wow factor and they add oomph to any outfit you end up wearing. I know that pink is a touchy colour when it comes to special evenings/outings and can pass off a little too Paris Hilton, but it seriously adds a risqué, avant-garde element to your outfit. I am so glad I got them for Topshop, they’re comfortable and affordable. You can find a similar pair here and here. Why wear boring black heels, when you can wear hot pink ones!

#4 The Go-To TrainersIMG_9941

Much like the Converse trainers, these Adidas ones are pretty much my best friend when it comes to comfort and style. You can just see how knackered they are! I got them well over 4 years ago and if I had to track my cost per wear, I would say I pretty much got my money’s worth and then some. Versatile is not even a word, they look cool with every-freaking-thing you wear. They’re not like the Stan Smith ones that are a little too rigid on the feet, these ones are like air! Literally! I have been trying to find them in another color, but couldn’t, for the life of me, find them anywhere! And it kindddda sucks! Le booo!

#5 The Smart ShoeIMG_9942
It is quite sad to say that my favorite Charles & Keith oxblood oxford shoes are almost coming to an end. They don’t look that bad in the photo (hello lighting and editing), but they’re completely beat! I don’t even think oxblood is happening anymore. Haha! Whenever I want to wear a classic, flat, smart shoe with a smart outfit, I always reach for these one, hence the signs of wear. I bought these a little over 2 years ago and will continue to wear them till they’re literally dead. I feel like the narrow, pointy front of the shoe make them even more classy and dressy. They’re not just boring, old oxfords, they’ve got pizzazz and swag. They’re a little reflective, which means in some lights, it can pass as a black shoe, but when you look closely, it isn’t. Ha! Got you fooled! I feel like they’re a must in my shoe collection, because they’re the perfect alternative to smart high heels. Find similar ones here.

6- The Quintessential BootieIMG_9945
I would say that 85% of my shoe collection has round toe caps and 60% of that same collection has block heels. This is how I’ve always liked my heels to be. I feel seriously funny whenever I wear one of those skinny heels, I feel like I’m a can-can dancer or something. Bock heels never die (in my opinion of course), and they’re sturdy.  I absolutely can marathon in these bad boys right here. Although they are a new addition to my wardrobe, I have worn them a ton already and I am truly honest when I say, it feel like wearing nothing. I know that these booties will last me a wile, because they go with everything from skirts to jeans to dresses, plus they’re black, so here are some extra points. There are days where I just need to wear high heels to feel like I own the world and with these I definitely feel that. The give me the confidence to strut and feel contagiously happy. if ever I find them in an outrageous color, I would invest in them as a statement finishing piece. Black booties are a classic and you can’t go wrong wearing them. So if there’s a type of shoe you should invest in, I would say go for a black bootie. Find similar one with a small twist here.

Arabian Gypsy

This yellow skirt is the focal point of this outfit. I am not usually a yellow kinda girl because I find it makes me look weird. I much prefer mustard because it suits my skin tone better. Yellow is a little too bold and a little too out there, it’s like wearing neon orange, it scares me sometimes but I so envy the girls who can pull it off. Although there aren’t any rules when it comes to color and fashion, I sometimes (rarely) avoid taking risks.

I bought this skirt while thrifting with mum a couple of weeks ago but never got the chance to wear it until now. So I told myself that today is the perfect opportunity to be a lemon!!! Because why not?!

IMG_8338

Since the skirt I midi length and a little bit on the overly flowy side, I felt it was very fitting for me to wear it in a hippie/gypsy kinda way. But obviously add my own Arabic touch in it…and not forgetting a little bit of American flare. Can I just humbly add that I am in the with my skin at the moment <3

Okay so here’s what I came up with:

IMG_8317

IMG_8328

IMG_8345

What I wore:
-Thrifted denim shirt.
-Thrifted yellow skirt.
-Forever 21 floral kimono.
-Aldo sunglasses.
-Adidas trainers.

What do you guys think of this look?? Let me know in a comment below or hit like if it’s a yay!

Hasta luego xx

3 ways to wear the iconic Originals Stan Smith

I grew up wearing Adidas originals for the longest time, although I didn’t have the  white/green Adidas originals, I remember having the classic black & white 3 stripe Superstar Originals and I wore them with everything…it was inexplicable love and I wore them to death…like literally…they died on my feet. So I decided to repurchase them a few months ago and it’s rekindled love. I invested in designing my own Originals Stan Smith on the Adidas website and since I received them, I am wearing them pretty much all the time. If you decide to design your own style, obviously you’ll pay more.

IMG_6081

Since I know I will wear them a lot, I was willing to invest in them and ended up paying close to 200$ CAD. These trainers go pretty much with anything and everything..from pants, to jeans to skirts….like anything!!! Depends on how you choose to style them really…what I love about fashion, is that there are no rules to follow, you just pretty much dress as you please. No regrets!

So this is how I have been taking these babies out on strolls and rides…

I totes channeled my inner teenager wearing these beauties again. As you can see in my last look, I was totes carried away into my Grease mode, which was my favorite look out of all 3. I’m so glad I rediscovered these babies; I might invest in another pair and get the Superstars…

Which one was you favorite look? And If you have a pair…how do you like them?

Until next time!

Feeling the 90s

I was super excited when I received my Stan Smith Originals. I was even more excited when I got them in Croc leather…which give ’em the edgiest coolest look. I used to wear the black/white Adidas Originals everywhere when I was a kid and I could not get over them.  They cost me about 180$ CAD only because I decided to customize them to my liking. The go for about 110$ for the simple original design. I was willing to spend that much knowing that I love my kicks and that I would get a lot of wear out of them like my other famous Adidas trainers that you constantly see in my other posts.

IMG_5919
IMG_5927

Anyway, this is the look I wore today, kept is super chill and relaxed…Was totes feeling the 90s’ with my Biggie Smalls & Tupac tee and acid wash jeans & jacket.

This was the final look:

IMG_5914.JPG

**And here’s a close up of my silly silly face X)
I want to take a moment to thank my beautiful sister for being patient with me and taking all my photos. She’s the bomb! Love her to death. **

This is what I wore:
-Biggie Smalls/Tupac muscle tee from Forever 21.
-Forever 21 acid wash biker jeans.
-90s acid wash jacket.
-Adidas Originals.
-Thrifted bucket bag.
-DCK bracelets.
-Caterpillar men’s watch.

Hope y’all liked this look and if any of you are thinking of buying the Stan Smith Originals; then you totes should! They’re super comfy and totally rad!

Until next time!

Cheers xo

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

One of my favorite lipsticks ever in the whole wide world of makeup is Marc Jacob’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. This #216 lip color is part of his Le Marc lip creme lipstick. It’s a beautiful subtle color that is easily buildable (your lips but better-which can go from light to dark depending on application). This is my most worn color (as you can see in the picture…totally abused it). This sexy baked pinky-mauvy color is very rich, velvety and ultra-hydrating. It’s a lipstick that delivers a dramatic punch of vivid pigment and endless hours of luxurious wear. It sincerely stays on all day and I rarely reapply it. It’s a beautiful everyday shade which suits any skin color.

IMG_5520

Did I mention the packaging?!! I am a total sucker for that..I sometimes purely only buy item based on packaging.  I am super in love with it <3. So sleek and elegant with a glossy black finish with the designer’s name embossed in silver. It has silver button which is just for show and it is also has a magnetic closing system, which is great when you throw this into your purse.

IMG_5523
IMG_5517

So today, because I didn’t want to spend so much effort dressing up…I opted for the Canadian suit look. The denim on denim look. I wore my favorite Gap items. A black jean jumper paired with an acid wash jean denim jacket. This look is super casual and comfortable. It’s very playful and you can definitely either dress it up or dress it down. I wouldn’t mind wearing this daily.

These Marc Jacobs Lip Creams are most definitely my favorite lipsticks ever and I have a couple of colors and although they are pricey (38$ CAD), they are worth every penny.

Have you guys tried these and what do you think of them? What are your favorite colors from this range?

Cheers xo

Bloody Mary

I picked up this lipstick on a whim without even swatching it…I took a risk, purely because I loved the name: Bloody Mary. I guilty, sometimes, buy products for the packaging or the name (when used…I mostly do that with nail polish..weird, I know, but we’re all weird in our own way!!!). So I felt like wearing it today. And since I didn’t want to make an effort with my wardrobe, I went for a monochromatic street style look. This is the result of my impulse lip purchase…..

IMG_5228.JPG
IMG_5297.JPG
It’s a very pretty color and I am so so happy with it. It’s a hot pinkish-orangy red. Goes super nicely and perfectly with my skin tone. ANDDD, it’s matte 🙂

What I wore:
Jacket: Only Leather bomber.
Sweater: Zoe Karssen.
Jeans: Rachel Zoe.
Shoes: Adidas.
Sunglasses: Betsey Johnson.

I could honestly go monochrome forever and it wouldn’t bother me. But since I want to be fair to every other color out there, I experiment.

What did you guys think of NYX’s Bloody Mary…is it a yay or a nay?
