Youth to the people <3

As y’all know by now..it’s winter out there :p DAH! And it’s that dreaded time again of dry dry parched skin. Hello fish scaley skin…goodbye beautiful glow. Wah wah! But wait, you don’t need to suffer if you find the perfect moisturizer to salvage your skin from its unruly behavior. I was searching for weeks for that perfect remedy to soothe my painfully dry skin…until I stumbled onto this little baby on the Sephora website. I read loads of reviews before I took the plunge. I mean, I did not want to invest into something not knowing if it would give me results.

Well, The Youth To The People Kale + Spinach Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Moisture Cream is the BOMBBBB. That’s a mouthful!  It seriously made a huge difference on the texture I had on my skin. The reason why I was ready to invest in this is purely for the story behind the brand! Youth to the People is a family owned company that formulates, makes, and packages its products in California. The veggies extracts are cold pressed and sourced in the US. What really really sold me on this is the fact that their products are free of added color and fragrance, they’re 100 percent vegan and they never test on animals. Yay!!! The cousin duo has got it all down. Oh oh!! And their packing is made from recycled materials! Bonus and bonus!

This is a multifunction, lightweight face cream loaded with superfoods—kale, spinach, and green tea—and hyaluronic acid to moisturize skin. This is the answer and the solution to dryness, to fine lines and wrinkles and to replenish loss of firmness and elasticity.

This 2.0 oz pot runs for 48$ CAD but it is totes worth it. It is packed with green leafy superfoods which help restore, rejuvenate, and condition the skin. What I love about this is that it’s lightwieght. It feels like a bit like a gel; its whipped texture is quick absorbing. All the potent nutrients inside this little pot deliver antioxidants and phytonutrients to protect against free radicals, environmental stresses, and redness. The hyaluronic acid hydrates and locks in your skin’s natural moisture. The refreshing, subtle scent is naturally derived from the extracts. It’s not heavy…so all you sensitive nosed people out there, don’t you worry, this smell fascinating.

The perfect daily SPF

I never was a SPF girl because I always thought it wasn’t necessary as long as I do not hang too much in the sun. But that has been quite impossible these past few months since I have been traveling a lot to the Middle East. My skin texture was affected way too much by the unprotected sun exposure. So I figured, it is really time to invest in a good SPF that will not break me out or leave a white cast on my face. A couple of weeks ago, I went into Sephora looking for that perfect SPF cream. There was a wonderful beauty adviser that showed me a couple, but ended up suggesting this one:

IMG_1856.JPG

Clarins’ Multi-Protection Tinted Sunscreen is exactly what I have been looking for. I give me SPF 40 protection and a little tint without being too heavy or without making me look like I am wearing makeup.

It’s a super lightweight formula! It’s the perfect year-round, oil-free SPF 40 anti-pollution sunscreen. What I love about this is that it shields the skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, pollution, and free radicals ANDDD it lightly covers the skin.

img_1859
I got this at a local Sephora and unfortunately cannot find it online. The Sephora online website has the regular Clarins SPF (not tinted).  But it would be available here for those who are interested. You pay 42$ for 1.7oz. A little goes a long way and so, for the price, you get quite a bit of product. I have been using it for about 2 months now on a daily basis and still have loads left!

I recommend this product if you’re looking for a powerful sunscreen formula that acts as an slightly tinted shield. It will definitely help protect the skin from the appearance of dark spots and future aging. It delivers broad-spectrum protection and antioxidant defense. This formula is formulated without parabens and it is dermatologist tested! It is also oil-free which is perfect for those with oily and combination skin. It leaves you matte without too much shine.
img_1837

The only small thing that I hate about this is that when my face is really dry, it shows too much on my cracked skin. So for those who suffer from dry skin need to moisturize deeply before applying this. Other than that, this is a great product to add in your skin regimen.

So if any of you are in the market for a new SPF, I recommend this little baby! You will not regret it!

Castor Oil

I remember my momma giving me castor oil to help ease my little constipation when I was a wee child. And I also remember how gross it was having the feeling of oil coat your throat…ugh! I’m scarred for life…just thinking about that makes me want to gag. So yeah, maybe I had a bad experience when I was a kid, but that doesn’t stop me from using Castor oil now. I, in fact, use it to detox once a year…yes, I drink it! Castor oil and hot water make an amazing stomach cleansing supplement. This hepls remove harmful bacteria from the gut and stomach. The harmful bacteria is replaced with health-friendly bacteria that ease digestion and reduce acidity and bloating. I get the organic one from the health shop and you can consume it as long as you make sure it’s food-grade.This little potent oil has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

img_0527

This oil is not only used as a laxative and system booster, it is also used in various cosmetics, soaps, textiles, massage oils, and even medicines. Castor oil has loads of benefits for your skin, hair, and health. I have been using this for a month now, once a week as a mask for my hair before I shower and let me tell you that the results have been amazing. My hair is freaking silky smooth and super healthy. It is no longer dry and parched! I have been using it on my lashes and brows as well. It helps the hair grow and become healthy.

Castor oil is also amazing when it comes to healing skin inflammation that can be caused by sunburns, acne, and dry skin. When applied to the skin, the oil penetrates deeply and stimulates the production of collagen. This, in turn, helps soften and hydrate the skin. It also helps in delaying the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Your skin becomes smoother, softer, and younger. You can also treat the fine lines around the eye area by applying the oil on the area and massaging it in slowly.

The  benefits of Castor oil are huge and I could keep going for hours about how amazing it has been for me. You can treat scars, reduce pigmentation, hydrate your skin, reduce scarring and the list goes on….You just need to make sure it’s a good quality cold pressed oil and you’re in it to win it.

Try it out and you won’t regret it. But obviously make sure you’re not allergic by doing a small test.

Hope you found this post informative…

Until next time xx

YES TO AWESOME PRODUCTS!

img_0533

I cannot explain to you how excited I was to see this in the Pharmaprix beauty aisle. I died and went to makeup wipe heaven. I have been using the Yes to Cucumbers wipe for a little while and I like them. They help me in easily removing my makeup without drying out my skin.  However, they are a little too thin and they dissolve easily…I guess that’s the biodegradable aspect of it.

But when I found this baby! AHH, I was excited, literally! Not only because they’re charcoal based but because they’re black! They’re BLACK!! EEE!!! I know I’m a little way too excited, but they’re amazing. The Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes run for about 6-7$ at the pharmacy. So far, the coolest and best wipes I have used so far…better than the Simple wipes and Klorane wipes I have used previously. These black wipes sincerely remove my eye makeup with 1 swipe, I don’t even have to suffer or tug at my skin. They’re infused with extracts that work to care for problematic skin. The charcoal in the wipes helps to rid the complexion of impurities as well as stubborn makeup and dirt. It leaves the skin looking and feeling completely refreshed…Also, tomatoes are a natural soothing antioxidant, so they help maintaining the skin healthy and fresh.

What I love about this brand is that it really focuses on making your skin great by using mostly natural and affordable beauty products. They use fruit and veggie formulas in an innovative way with the guarantee of having outstanding results. They focus on methods to nourishing the skin and hair in the healthiest way possible. All ingredients are at least 95% natural, free from parabens, SLS and phthalates ANDDDD they’re cruelty free.

Have you tried them? Do you like them? Let me know!!

My go-to masks…

I’ve got about 99 masks I use, but 2 of my favorites are then ones I will talk about below. They don’t hurt my eczema-prone skin. Of course, I have always patch test with loads of products, since I sometimes ended up with burns..not fun when you have an event the next day this happens.

The reason why I take the time to always pamper y skin and take care of it is because I do not wear foundation and will not wear foundation because it is not really necessary to hide what we have. I understand makeup is a means of being artistic and expressing thyself. However, for me, I like to feel as natural as possible and let my skin breath. I’m a lipstick addict and that you’ll catch me wearing a ton…even on my teeth!

In order to have beautiful skin, it is imperative to take the necessary steps to get there. –I will write up a blog post soon about what I do to have healthy glowing skin- And masks for me are a ways to help maintaining healthier skin. These are the 2 masks I swear by:

1) Peter Thomas Roth-Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (72$ CAD)

Looking at how  much I spent on this mask makes me wants to gag. It’s expensive but trust me guys, this works wonders. I mean I would never spend money on just voidness. But this purchase is justifiable because it really works. It’s a potent mask that helps exfoliate the skin gently with pumpkin enzymes and AHA acids. It literally saves the skin when it’s revolting and starting up a war of zits and pimples (yes I am talking about that dreadful time of the month). I will have to say that at first this tingles for a minute or two but then it subsides. I usually leave it on for like 10-15 minutes then wash it off and my skin just looks healthy and less spotty. My skin looks smoother and radiant and the texture improves quite a lot. You have to be careful though using this, because it could irritate sensitive skin if left on for too too long. Don’t exfoliate before using this because this already does the job. Also, a little goes a long way, I have had this product for about 4 months now and I still have loads left.

2) Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay (18$ CAD)

You get so much product in this tub!!! For 18$ CAD you get 1 lb of product. And it lasts like forever. I have had this for almost a year and I haven’t even gotten to half the product. Basically, it’s powder that you can mix with water or apple cider vinegar, which then turns into clay. I prefer mixing it with apple cider vinegar because I feel it works better for me that way. It is recommended to apply for 10-15 minutes onto sensitive skin or 25 minutes to normal skin. I apply it and sometimes forget it’s there…even though can’t really forget it because it hardens. I usually like to bubble bath and have this on, like that with the heat vapors it stiffens less and I have an easier time removing it. This mask, no joke, removes every piece of gunk on your face, it deep cleans your pores that when you remove it, you’re seriously squeaky clean!!! Like baby bum shiny clean and smooth. I stay a little red after using it sometimes, but that’s because I leave a bit more than 15 mins and for sensitive skin, it is recommended not to.

If I had to choose between all my masks, these 2 definitely take the top prize. They give me results and they help keep my skin healthy and glowy.

If you’re looking into buying some potent masks that give instant results, I suggest you guys to look into these.

Hope this post helped!

Estee Lauder powerfoil mask.

I am a total mask junkie…true story!!! and my family is annoyed with me because I constantly have something on my face…can’t help it! I find this the perfect way to de-stress and feel refreshed. So I have a couple that I use and am in love with but I came across this one a while ago and bought the 4 pack one from the Sephora website. I love the way my skin feels after using the Estee Lauder Advanced Repair Concentrated Recovery Powerfoil mask. This is one pricey little sucker. Super expensive but super worth it. I use this once every 2 weeks or so, or whenever my skin needs a little pick me up. This mask is a great way to prep your skin for an important event and get a healthy glow without paying the price of a facial.

sheet mask.png

The mask itself is like a cloth material on the inside with foil on the outside (to maintain all the goodness locked in place). It’s very easy to put on your face and stays put once placed on the skin. You have to put the bottom layer first and then put the top one… then you leave this on for 10 minutes (as per directions), but I cheat and leave it on for 20.
It looks a little scary, like Jason X Friday the 13th scary…but the results are remarkable!!! The first time I used it; it took away the redness and made my skin so soft and toned. I have sensitive skin and break out easily, but I didn’t have any problems with this mask and I even noticed my dark eye circles were a little bit lighter after use.
It sells for 25$ CAD for one mask for 88$ CAD for 4 and that’s the only downside really. It’s expensive, but there’s so much product left in there that you can keep using it as a serum a couple of days after. I usually apply the rest of the liquid on my neck and shoulders…the rest of your body needs love too!
I will definitely be a repeat buyer of this mask because it does the job and delivers its promise of giving you youthful radiant skin.
If you’re looking for a good pick me up mask that will give you radiant skin, then this is worth a try.
Hope this little mini review helped!
Until next time,

The Sunday Riley Good Genes secret

I will never give up on my Skinceuticals serums just because they make my skin happy. They’re hydrating, they’re gentle and they’re just overall wonderfully potent serums that I will keep using forever. But as I was done with my Pholertin CF Antioxidant Treatment, I was in search of something else as a switch so my skin doesn’t get to used to it and lazy out. So I have heard about the Sunday Riley range and these are definitely cult products. I had tried the Luna Oil a while ago but I didn’t like it much, I felt like it broke me out, but I guess I wasn’t fair as I tried it for like 3 days.

So after reading loads of reviews and watching a ton of Youtube videos, I decided to take a risk and purchase the Good Genes Treatment. OMG!! Best purchase ever! This little baby is super super pricey but it sincerely holds up to its claims. And what’s even more amazing is that the product is cruelty free. YAY!!!

IMG_6488

IMG_6491

This potent little magic cream contains ingredients such as lemongrass oil, licorice root extract, prickly pear extracts, lactic acid and more. I use it at night most of the time because I have a simple hydrating cream for the AM.

On the bottle it says that it can be used as a mask as well, which requires you to use a thicker amount, leave it for a couple of minutes and then wash it off…which is a complete and total waste of the product. I just use it as a night moisturizer.

I saw results almost immediately — especially in the morning. I’d wake up to baby-soft skin and glowing at that!!! AHHH, like seriously glowing. I have been using it for a month now and I still have product in the bottle. My skin is radiant, even, toned, youthful and beautiful. I can go out of the house without concealer or foundation on my face (which I don’t even use to start with). This baby is now part of my skincare routine and I think it’s a total keeper.

The only downside to this? Sunday Riley’s products aren’t exactly the cheapest on the market (147$ CAD at sephora.com). But they are so potent and you’re getting your buck’s worth. They have a cult following for a reason: and that’s because they actually work. And if good skin care is something you’re willing to invest in, you won’t be disappointed. Trust me, you see instant results (like next morning after one use instant).

I guess that makes me part of the cult now, go check more reviews and see for yourself on the Sephora website.

Until next time!!

Cheers xo

My 2 holy grails <3

If I was stranded on an island and I could only bring 2 things with me, it would be these 2 babies. So in love with them because they offer me endless and unconditional love and hydration, hello!!! This is why I love them and will continue to repurchase them…unless I find something better (I kinda doubt that).

Product #1
IMG_4143
IMG_4145

The first product I cannot live without is Avene’s Cicalfate Repair Cream. This little metal tube of white thick emollient is ready to rescue skin from any mishap. Slight burns, dry spots, over exfoliated skin, hair removal sores…the bunch.

This potent cream has anti-bacterial agents that encourage healing, which is amazing to protect irritated skin. It is also perfect for sensitive skin because it is fragrance and paraben free. Its combination of copper sulfate and zinc sulfate reduces the risk of bacterial proliferation. Let me tell you that it is super super soothing to those who have fragile skin.

It was recommended to me by the allergist after going through endless creams to help protect and sooth my irritated, allergic skin (especially my eyelids..thank you contact dermatitis :(..blah!). Now, I cannot live without this baby, especially when I have bad eczema outbreaks. Thankfully this hydrates my skin without causing further damage or breakouts.

The CICALFATE CREAM is formulated for dry irritations in adults, children, and infants. It can be applied on skin or parts such as the lip (I have used it a few times as lip balm) or nostril (especially when you have a cold). This tube was about 20-30$ at the pharmacy and it lasts for a long time because a little goes a long way. This price is really not bad for a skin savior (superman in a metal tube)….

Product #2
IMG_0397

This little tube is magical and wonderful and just all over fabulous. Bite’s agave lip mask is the answer to your chapped, irritated lips. When going on long flights, going through the super rough cold weather or simply licking your lips way too many times a day; this mask is honestly the best thing you will ever try to combat dryness. I usually put this at night before going to bed and sleep with it. Then the next morning I wake up with super soft, subtle lips. Or sometimes, when I really really need it, I will put a very thin layer in the morning. This is a very thick mask, so when you put it in the morning, you have to be careful, because sometimes it causes you to have a white film on your lips.

Basically this tube is like the perfect friend that is always there for you when you need it most. And a little goes a long way. This tube lasts forever and costs 30$ at Sephora.

So, if you were stranded on an island, hypothetically speaking, what would you want to have with you?

Until next time!

Cheers xo
