Four things that cheered me up this month

Since I was feeling down since the beginning of the New Year and felt a bit out of the loop on living life cheerfully and lightly. I am usually a pretty cheerful and positive person but being physically sick ain’t that exciting and I feel like it affects my mental state very much. Since feeling much better physically, I have been on a journey of self-care and I make sure to stay jolly. Every month that passes, I focus on finding little things to keep my spirits high and my mood chappy. Here’s a little list of those things.

Praying (also meditating)

IMG_1173

Being a Muslim, I mean it is required for us to pray 5 times a week…but since moving to Jericho, I have become a little bit more negative than my usual self and i don’t like that side of me because that never was me! I am always the girl that lives in a “delusional” world, where everything is perfect no matter what happens and that when you fall, you can easily get up and move forward. Anyway, to break this ugly and disastrous self-sabotage cycle of loathing, I have turned to mediating and praying. I would do yoga whenever I can but praying has also helped me find inner peace. This isn’t to really push anything down anyone’s throat but I do feel more Zen nowadays. I never took to praying so deeply until passing through some hardship and now I know that it is there for a reason; it keeps us light-hearted and relaxed. I would describe it as doing yoga, really, it’s a 5 minute process that I do 5 times a day and it helps me re-energize and re-center. You sort of disconnected for your troubles and worries and just work on rebuilding your trust in God, in life and in the good things that come your ways.

Florence Welch (& the Machine)

florence-and-the-machine-music-videos

I have fallen back in love with her music. There’s so much to listen to these days, but I stumbled onto the Dog Days and just remembered how good it was. I listen to other music obviously, but this month I have had Florence and the Machine on repeat and it has been giving me life! I like to blast the music high when hubs isn’t home to dance around a little bit while making dinner. Music can easily and quickly lighten my mood. I don’t usually go for a favourite band (except maybe for Coldplay), but I like to listen to meaningful lyrics and that goes for any genre of music. This month in particular, music has been a good way to keep me active too. So it’s always a win with music.

RuPaul’s Drag Race

888

It was a while since I even opened the TV, even if I am home alone, I rarely open it. I don’t feel motivated to sit there and watch it all by myself. I get a little more excited watching with someone else…but going on to Netflix recently, I was curious as to what I could watch…something not too dark and not too serious. I stumbled onto RuPaul’s drag race and that’s where the love started. I binge watched by way up to season 7. It’s so freaking amazing! I am totes in love with this show. The first episode of each season is always my favourite because then you get to see the transformations of each contestant and their reactions to each other. I love how talented some of these queens are; I mean I wish I could do my eye shadow half as decent as they do. I also love how some of them are so talented in sewing and just make beautiful costumes out of nothing. So inspiring! Their will to succeed is touching and exciting to see.

Skincare/Makeup

IMG_1129

Although I don’t usually go ham with it but I love playing with it nowadays. I have mentioned it in my previous post, but skincare/makeup have been keeping me quite content these days. I now find the time to really cleanse my skin and exxfolitate properly and even get some masks done. A little R&R never hurts! Also, there’s something just so satisfying about adding a pop of color on a bland canvas (my face at the moment); seeing the little changes that happen is awesome. Sometimes, I take the time to put some makeup even if I’m at home, just for fun. Because why the hell not?!

Zhush up your face…in 5 minutes!

One of the things that has been keeping me happy these past few weeks is maintaining my skin healthy and hydrated at all times. Even more so, having minimal makeup has been boosting my energy and making me feel like a pretty little lady. I am not known to sport heavy bases such as foundation or even BB cream; I’ll do that for certain occasion, but not on a daily basis. I feel like I look too made up and sometimes with my drier spots, the base will show and it can look quite ugly. Since I am having good skin at the moment, I haven’t been needing much concealing anyway, except for my deep dark under eye area. In today’s blog post, I would like to share the products that I have been using on a daily basis to zhush up my look.

IMG_1129

I certainly take the time to clean my face in the morning and at night…but sometimes, I feel like I can’t be bothered and end up just slashing my face with water and call it a day. However, I force myself to make an effort and enjoy it now before things get hectic in a couple of months. So here are the products I use and this literally takes me 5 minutes to do.

1- AHAVA Time to Hydrate Essential Day Moisturizer

First and foremost, I make sure to have a good base and so I moisturize my crazy dry skin with the Ahava . Even though this has a thick cream consistency, it’s easily absorbed by the skin. It doesn’t leave any residue or sticky feeling. The skin feels plump and ready for the day! I apply a small amount because a little bit goes a long way and take it down to my neck as well.

2- Avène Very High Protection Cream SPF 50+

After moisturizing is the exciting part!!! Where glow comes into play!!! I obviously put on my SPF cream on, but I mix it with a little bit of wonder glow from Charlotte Tilbury. This Avène SPF is honeslty the only one that doesn’t bug me as much as other ones do. I sometimes leaves a white cast if you put too much of it…so I always make sure to put only half a pump and apply it everywhere even down my neck. The wonder glow is basically a liquid slightly tinted glow with micro gold glitters. It blends into the skin beautiful and leave a light layer of shine and this somewhat blurs the slight imperfection you may have with your skin.

IMG_0915

3- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (Shade: Ginger)

I then proceed to adding some concealer to my under eye area…I don’t put it everywhere under my eye as it will look weird without full makeup. I just tend to take some bit of product with my ring finger, warm it up and put it where it’s really dark and sometimes I set it and other times I don’t….depends on how I feel really. This has been my go-to concealer for a couple of years now…it’s good and doesn’t crease on me.

4- Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder (Shade: Medium 2)

Then to add some dimension to my eyes, I add a little bit of Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing powder (in the color Medium 2). A wash of color on my crease and voila, the trick is done. It instantly just wakes my face up and adds color to my sometimes pales yellowish tone. I know it’s a bronzer but I prefer to use it on my eyelids and have been since I got it as a sample a while ago, I never even tried it as a bronzer yet. I used it almost on the daily and I made a dent in it. I even use it as a transition shade in my crease whenever i do heavier makeup looks.

5- Bobbi Brown Lipstick (Shade: Brownie)

My life obviously wouldn’t be complete without doing lipstick! I never go out the house without lipstick. It usually is the only product I will put on my face most days. Lipstick is so crucial in my life and I usually double it as blusher…just because I am lazy and just because it saves me time. I apply a little bit of lipstick onto my fingers…warm it up and pat it onto my cheeks ever so slightly and there I have an almost complete look.

6- L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

I add mascara, obviously! This L’Oreal mascara isn’t my favorite one out there, but it does the job of giving me something. It doesn’t hold well, but it lasts for a good amount of time…it starts flaking off after a couple of hours, but then again, for the price, can’t complain.

7- E.L.F Baked Highlighter (Shade: Blush Gems)

Last but not least, how could life be interesting if you don’t add even more highlight on your face? I mean obviously you want your cheeks to be popping! I add this really affordable E.L.F highlighter with a light brush dusting over my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on the high points of my brows and sometimes forehead.

And there you have it, the 5 minute wake-up makeup…minimum products required. Keep me fresh and happy and all th

The transforming moisturizer!

Pregnancy hasn’t been all that bad, I mean, yes I felt sick and weak for the most part, but I am starting to see the light. Pregnancy has given me amazing hair, nails and skin and I am totes enjoying while I can, because I know it might go downhill after birth. My skin is pretty much very clear since I got pregnant, I do get the occasional hormonal breakout, but it’s not bad at all. The only thing I have noticed is that I am very very dry, even more so than I was pre-pregnancy. My skin is sensitive and dehydrated and it is super easy for me to react to environmental changes and products I use. I suffer from eczema and contact dermatitis, so it is very necessary for me to keep my skin hydrate at all costs. I know that with pregnancy, there are many products that you cannot use due to ingredients, but I have had this particular cream with me for a good while and I absolutely love using for days when my skin is super parched…which has been for a couple of weeks now. Vomiting doesn’t help either! For the first trimester, I found it super hard for me to even digest water, drink it, smell it and all the jazz. I forced myself to drink water by adding lemon slices to it, but I still didn’t consume enough of it. Right now, I am very thirsty, so I am capable of downing 2 liters, no problem; which I am completely happy about it, because it helps with dehydration.

IMG_0611

I haven’t been worried so much about my skin; I am just trying to keep the eczema at bay, because it’s painful as hell. I get it around my eyes and lips mostly, but it can be around my nose and the rest of my body if I am not careful. I have done multiple allergy tests and just turns out I have contact dermatitis and can easily have eczema and the worst part is that cortisone cream doesn’t work all that well with me. Total suckage!

Charlotte-Tilbury-Magic-Cream

So to come back to original part of this post, my face has been extremely dry especially around the lips and nose and this cream saves me every time! I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream last May to prep my skin for the wedding. I have always had dry skin and tried a couple of different creams, but nothing really kept me happy…it was either too thick it broke me out, or too blah and did nothing for me. I had read a lot about the magic cream before buying it, because this damn this is freaking expensive! It literally is a pay check on its own. It cost me about 200$ to get the 50ml size. Damn import charges. I hate those, because they kill! But honestly, from my experience, it was worth every penny spent. Will I repurchase, probably!

charlotte_tilbury_day-cream-final-illustration2_4

The cream itself is like a facial on its own. The consistency is thick and rich, but not greasy. It feels luxurious on the skin and sinks in right away. It doesn’t leave any oily film or weird layer on the skin; it literally just disappears into the skin the minute you put it on. The skin is instantly subtle and I know it sounds way out there, but it’s true! I have felt a difference whenever I use this. PS: I also love to take it down to my neck. Sometimes, I stop using it and my skin screams for it, then when I go back, my skin is happy again. I mostly use it at night because I want to keep it as long as I can and so when I wake up in the morning, I see brighter, healthier, happier skin. I might even add glowy! It truly is a magic cream, for me anyway. It smells a little bit rosy, which is delightful; it’s light and not overbearing whatsoever because the minute you apply the product, the smell dissipates.

For those who are looking for instant, luxurious, amazing hydration…look no further, this is literally magic!

Wine Stock; burgundy love!

Been going nude for a little while now, on the nails that is (I mean duh! What were you guys thinking?!). I wasn’t really inspired lately to do any nail art/color for a while. Last time I had any lacquer on was on my wedding day (July) and this is the color I have been obsessing over for the past month. I have had it on and off on my nails and I love it; it’s such a fall/winter/Christmas-y color. I love burgundy in general, hence the theme to my wedding. I find burgundy to be such a luxurious color, whether in veils, dresses, skirt or even nails. There’s just something about it that captivates my heart. I mean it’s like a hybrid between a red and a purple, but it has a life of its own and it’s proud and awesome. I chose a couple of different tones of burgundy while wedding shopping a few months ago…one from Essie, one from Nails Inc and one from Ciaté, but the one I fell in love with was this one from Sally Hansen. I found that it was more red toned and that’s exactly what I was looking for; didn’t really want the purple undertone as my nails needed to match my shoes!

IMG_0049

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line is basically the next best thing to a salon gel manicure. I am always afraid to get those and ruin my nail beds forever. So without taking a risk, you can easily just use this range and be sure to get the salon results in the comfort of your home. Also, there’s no light needed, just two simple steps; first apply the colour and then stroke a little of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat over the top. The color I chose from this range is Wine stock; it’s wonderful on the nails, one coat is more than enough and the shine is there. This color is subtle yet festive, if you know what I mean. I know that it’s a two-step process, however, I just went in with my Seche Vite after that and it’s all good in the hood and I still get the gel effect without the heaping salon price. Also, on a little side not, I usually don’t use gloves to do my house chores and so, having my hand in the bleach and the water doesn’t change the longevity of the nail polish so much. I will have a few chips by day 10, but for the most part, the color is still there and my nails still look good.

IMG_0046

I have been a Sally Hansen fan since my college days, and I like the brand very much, especially the nail vitamins they have; they really do work! They have over 40 nail care products offering solutions for every nail care problem. I know that Essie is somewhat comparable, however, I find that Essie colors don’t last on my nails as much as the Sally ones do and it’s weird… maybe it’s just me?!

IMG_0048

So, why pay big bucks if you can get beautiful quality lacquers at the drugstore for an affordable price.

What are you favourite nail colors? I would like to know in a comment down below!!!

Top 10: favorite lipsticks of all time!

In today’s post, I wanted to share with you my go-to, most used, most cherished, most loved lipsticks in my collection (for all of eternity). These are lipsticks I have collected over the years and continue to use all the time, all year round. I may be a lipstick hoarder. I mean it’s justifiable, since I am not a foundation, blusher, eye shadow kinda gal. I sometimes go out bare-faced, but end up so rocking a bold lip, like a really sexy orangey-red. I remember there was one season where I would not stop using Cruella (obviously it’s on this list, duh!)…and I had to buy another one because I had used it all up. Anyway, not to make this intro too too long, here are my 10 favourite lipstick of all time and why I love them so much……

1- Bobbi Brown: Brownie

This is my go-to every day color. I use this on a daily basis whenever I am going for a natural bare nude lip. It’s a very beautiful nude, your lips but better, color and it is suitable for daily use. It’s got a pinkish brown undertone and I find that it matches skin tone perfectly. What I like about this one in particular is that it has a slight sheen to it. It doesn’t dry matte or anything, it’s just got a very juicy, plumpy, yummy finish to it and this one is always in my bag. I received it in a sample bag from a Sephora purchase a few months ago and I have been using it like crazy and I still have loads left. Plus!!! The lips stay hydrated the whole time you have it on (hello Vitamin C & E). This is definitely a brand to look into and to invest into. Bobbi brown has got it all down when it comes to natural makeup.

2- Kat Von D: Cathedral

Much like the Bobbie Brown color, this is a brown based nude. It is similar in color, however, the finish is different and Cathedral dries down completely matte which emphasizes the brown a lot more and this is exactly what I love about this lipstick. The brown is not a yucky 1990s brown but rather a very complementing one; it works with my skin tone and it gives me a natural yet dressed up look (if you know what I mean). It is absolutely freaking gorgeous and the neutral base in this lipstick helps it match with any eye color you wish to do. It’s kind of a bold color but in a subtle way. It’s very long lasting and honestly, I don’t think about replying it all that much. And hello, can we also talk about how freaking cool the packaging is?? I like how she matched to the product name; studded! I remember being addicted to Kat Von D since spotting her on that TV show; LA Ink, gosh, she was always so badass yet gracious in her work…so I’m super glad she got into makeup because she’s doing it well!

3- Marc Jacobs: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

This one is an oldie (in my collection) but a goodie. I remember wanting to invest in a good quality pinky, nude lip a little over 2 years ago and then came across this one at Sephora. I was so excited that I had found Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It’s the perfect pink based nude, unlike the two previous lipsticks. I remember misplacing it and going crazy, so I repurchased another one, so now I have 2 (found it..haha)! It dries matte but it is very comfortable on the lips, it’s not drying and it doesn’t settles into the dry lines. It applies very smoothly and glides with perfection; very much like the name says, it’s creamy. The packaging is to die for, it’s sleek and heavy; super luxurious. I feel like a bond girl, whenever I get it out in public to reapply..hahahahaha! March Jacobs will forever be my #1 when it comes to luxury makeup, because I know that I will get my buck’s worth.

4- ELF: Hot Commodity

This is one of the most affordable lipsticks in the bunch and I’m super happy that I can count this as one of my faves. The color payoff is fantastic and the longevity is great. I was looking for a coral lipstick last summer to go well with my blue liner and my olive tan…then I stumbled onto this lipstick from ELF at the drugstore. I can almost compare it the Marc Jacobs lipsticks in application. It dries down semi-matte, it has a slight sheen to it and it doesn’t leave your lips parched and dry. The only negative thing I would say about this color is that it will emphasize the dry patches on your lips if they’re not properly hydrated and exfoliated beforehand. However, tbh, this always happens to me whenever I use light coloured lipstick…I find that soooo weird. Usually, people have patchy issues with darker ones, but I get that with lighter colors. I wear Hot Commodity mostly in the summer because I find that coral suits my tanned skin more than my regular days. Plus, for 7$ you can’t really go wrong! So if you’re looking to purchase lipstick but no break the budget, I definitely suggest your looking into ELF.

5- Bite Beauty: Honeycomb

I know that beige nude is a little scary to wear, but this one from Bite Beauty is amazing, I usually pat it onto my lips rather than gliding it, I find that the color payoff is much better and exactly how I want it to be. This beige nude is just basically my lips but with a little bit of an oomph. There’s a slight sheen to it and I keep this very close to me and sometimes, I just use is a lip balm because it’s not too too out there in color. Plus, I am super proud that Bite Beauty is not only Canadian, but they make their products from food-grade ingredients. The Amuse Bouche lipsticks are super hydrating and they feel like nothing on the lips! Super worth the investment!!!

PS: Another plus side to this, it smells amazing, super citrusy, unlike those super high end lipsticks that smell like my grannie’s antique perfume.

6- Charlotte Tilbury: Electric Poppy

This is my first Charlotte Tilbury purchase and I am glad I invested in one of her lipsticks. I was on the hunt for a bright, almost fuchsia, pink lipstick to go with my golden summer tan and after endless hours of research, I took a chance on this one. Worth it! I was afraid that this color would make me look darker than I already am, but on the contrary, it brightens my face in the most feminine, delicate way possible. The color payoff is rich and the longevity is great. You only need to apply one and honestly, this is one of the few lipsticks that doesn’t end up in my teeth (this is a huge problem for me…all my lipsticks end up on my teeth). It dries matte but still keeps your lips hydrated and plump. It’s rich, it’s luxurious and it’s fantastic. It works! Plus the packaging is the bomb (yes, I am a sucker like that).

7- Milk: Name Drop

This one a new addition to the lipstick fam I own. I always thought orange-red lipstick was killer on others and I never dared to try it. However, recently, I figured I ain’t losing nothing if I try one for kicks. I went off to the Sephora website and looked in every brand out there, then this one from Milk caught my eye. Yes, I did! I bought a color online, based on the photo and I do not regret it as the color came out even better than I expected. This color suits me so well and the orange pigment is bright enough to notice but not too much that it will make me look gloomy and dark. Very much like the Marc Jacobs lipsticks, this glides on with perfect, it’s creamy, hydrating, and comfortable…and yet still dries down demi-matte. I have a thing with matte lipsticks. I don’t like the sheeny ones unless it’s a nude sheen like the Bobbi Brown color above. It’s also infused with mazing ingredients such as Shea butter and Coconut oil ❤  What I love about this Milk lipstick is that it comes in crayon form, so it’s easy to apply and you don’t need a liner. Sometimes, applying a bold color without liner comes out catastrophic, however, this is applies perfectly. I am glad I got  ahold of this bad boy…it gives me Rihanna sort of vibes and I love it!

8- Nars: Cruella

This Nars lipstick doesn’t need much introduction as it is a cult favourite amongst many Youtubers and Bloggers. This is basically a universal red that pretty much works with everyone; I feel like it suits every skin tone. This pencil is obviously super easy to apply and it gives incredible pigments, rich and infused with Vitamin E. The finish is velvety matte but the color stays vivid and deep and this is what I love about this lipstick, the color is long-lasting and it doesn’t budge and it stays on my lips-not on my teeth. I went through a whole one and I am going on my second pencil now and I think this will be my staple, go-to red color for a long time. Unlike other red lipsticks, this doesn’t emphasize the dryness of my lips or the creases, so yay to Cruella!

9- The Face Shop: Moroccan Rose

I bought this two years ago and it is still going strong. I got it to wear to my engagement but ended up going with the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang instead. This Face Shop lipstick is beyond anything I have used and I have used and tried plenty of lipsticks. This one in particular is infused with anti-aging ingredients and gives the lip the boost they need to stay plump and young. Moroccan Rose is the prefect shy girl pink, you can build the color up to the intensity you want. I sometimes just dap it lightly in the center of my lips to get the fresh bitten look, or glide it on my lips to get the deep mauvey-pink color. I even use this particular lipstick as blusher sometimes and it works perfectly. It has a light sheen and when you warm it in your hands and apply it to your skin, it gives you the most beautiful, natural flush ever. This is my lazy go-to all around lipstick and I am so sad that I am almost running out of it. I feel like the Face Shop brand doesn’t get loads of hype, but the products are super worth looking into! Annndd, they’re not super expensive either! So win-win.

10- Colourpop: Poppin’

Last but not least, this color has got me feeling all sexy! Whenever I feel like I need a boost to slay, this is the color I choose to put on. Give me superpowers to conquer the world! I love anything Colourpop because everything they do is quality yet super freaking affordable. The matte-X formula is my favourite because it not just matte, it’s ultra-matte and it works perfectly for vibrant colours such as this one. It’s the perfect summer fuchsia pink and I love it, it’s a tad bit richer in pink pigment than the Charlotte Tilbury one. This lip color is so va va voom; filled with attitude and pizzazz. It’s surprisingly comfortable to wear even though it’s extremely matte and it doesn’t settle into the lines very much. I sometimes just add a little bit of lip balm before putting this color because I want it to last longer and it does; it doesn’t transfer and it doesn’t budge. I also love that it reapplies well, whenever you need a touch up. For those looking into crazy colourful, yet affordable lipsticks, I suggest looking into the Colourpop ones!

So there you have it, my top 10, ride or die, rock my sock lipsticks and I feel like they range from affordable to expensive (ish); there are suggestions for everyone and some are even budgets friendly.

My top 5 favorite perfumes

As an avid fragrance addict, I love how certain smells and perfumes take us back to old memories. They makes us travel back in time and somewhat relive the good memories. I may or may not be a perfume hoarder, but that’s only because each scent holds a special place in my heart. I generally, whenever I travel, like to purchase a new perfume, because it forever keeps reminding me of that particular place I went to. I  have this weird thing, where whenever I finish a perfume, I cannot ruse it…bizarre I know, but that’s just me. However, over the past few months and years, I have collected the ones I know that I will surely come back to as they truly do represent me as a person…a little bit of a badass princess.

Here are my top 5 favorite fragrances:

IMG_9912

1- Now this is probably on my most loved perfume out of this bunch, because it takes me way back to Morocco; it reminds me of the morning walking in the souks and the beautiful, colorful spice racks that were on display and the warm, welcoming people of Morocco.  There’s a certain je ne sais quoi about it that really makes me travel back in time to relive my greatest moments of  solitude and self-discovery. This perfume is very sexy, woody and intoxicating in the best way possible. I tend to gravitate towards musky fragrances rather than floral-y or fruity ones and so I feel like this compliments my personality so much. The notes of Oakwood and Vanilla create a lovely, magical balance which wraps you in a warm, leather-y aroma. I find that the Elizabeth & James fragrances are all unique and for the price, they’re worth it because the scent is there and the staying power too.

IMG_9913
2- I have talked about this perfume already in a previous post. This fragrance really does live up to its name; it is the most decadent, rich, luxurious, feminine and sultry scent you can ever possibly come across. I have gone through a lot of perfumes in my life time, from CK One, to Dior’s Miss Cherie…but this Marc Jacobs fragrance is a definite keeper for me…It’s floral-y but in a warm way; with hints of amber. Marc nailed in on the head with this one! I feel like I am (literally) unstoppable with this one, it lasts all day and you can smell it on yourself and when I do, I feel like a surge of energy hits me and then I just keep going (if that makes sense). If I were a super badass, super vigilante, heroine, I would imagine myself always smelling like this.

IMG_9914
3-As the name suggests, the main, key player note in this fragrance is Oud. This particular scent has always been associated with Arabic culture, it is to an extent the definition of royalty, strength and power. Coming from a little of a Saudi Arabian background, I have always smelled this around me and I feel this perfume in particular takes me back to my childhood. I am very fickle when it comes to Oud, because it can sometimes be too over-powering to the point where it gives me migraines. However, Roberto Cavalli made this one work in the most delicate way; it’s an absolutely rich fragrance but it’s not overbearing. I love wearing this one of special occasions (mainly because it’s a gift from my sissy), because it’s not a daily fragrance. But whenever I do choose to wear it, I always get complimented on it! It honestly smells amazing and even though the main ingredient is Oud; its undernotes are sweet and floral.

IMG_9915
4-Yes, I am slightly obsessed with the Elizabeth & James perfumes, but what can I say, they always get it right! This is quite a new addition to my little collection of perfumes (I only have 8 and some were gifts). I know it sounds a little stupid, but when I saw it launch on the Sephora website, I knew I would love it, purely by its name….yes, I bought a perfume only based on its name! Amethyst; it sounds so luxury to me! With notes like Tobacco and Cedar, this perfumes give me rebel vibes. It’s feminine yet masculine. It has a slight resemblance to the Bourbon perfume but it’s a lot more special. It has an edge and perhaps it’s the Tobacco in there that gives it a little bit more kick. This too is very sexy but in a subtle way.

IMG_9917

5- Last, but definitely not least, this one is a little bit of a funny story. I was out looking to buy my husband a new perfume as a birthday gift, but ended up loving it so much, that I got it for myself (insert the See-No-Evil monkey emoji here…you know the one covering its eyes). LOLZ! But since I am not a greedy person, I also ended up sharing it with the hubs. Yes, I do realize that the Armani Code is a masculine scent, but hey, works for me! It literally smells like a hot man! It’s seductive and opulent and elegant and the list goes on. My husbands sprays it on himself before going to work and he still smells yummy after 12 hours of wear. It literally lasts for forever and a little bit goes a long way. It too has notes of amber in it (QUELLE SURPRISE!), but by now, I guess you all figured out what I like in my fragrances.

**PS: I am now putting up 3 blog posts a week at 11 am EST**

Empties…products I’ve used up. YAY, Nay or Meh?

I have this weird guilty pleasure in watching people’s videos on Youtube of empty products…their thoughts and reviews. Empties posts are so thrilling…it’s totes weird, I know, but super super satisfying. So, today, I thought I would share with you the products I have used up in the past couple of months and my thoughts on them…would I repurchase or not. I have a total of 21 products for today’s post and without making this too long…let’s get into it.

good

1- Clean and Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash

I got this product on a total whim, because I was away (in Jordan) and didn’t carry my favorite wash with me…I was a little afraid to use it because my skin get irritated super easily and exfoliating daily didn’t sound like a good option. However, despite the name, I ended up loving this product! It does what it promises to do. It cleans, gently, unclogs the pores and exfoliates without drying the skin and without giving it the tight feeling you get sometimes from certain cleansers. It’s super inexpensive (10$ CAD) and lasts forever. I ended up repurchasing this and have now 2 back ups for whenever I run out of my other cleansers. All in all, I would say this is a win!

2- Anthony Deep Pore Cleansing Clay

This product is developed for men and borrowed by women…as it is written on the bottle, the Anthony range at Sephora is for men, but women aren’t afraid to use it. I got this mask because I needed something potent, fast and efficient…and this is exactly what I got with this  product. The fast is amazing! It’s a clay mask that you leave on from 5 to 10 minutes (I would go for 5 at first, because it burns) and it’s filled with amazing ingredients such as Vitamins A, C and E. It nourishes the skin while cleansing it. I do feel super squeaky clean after using it. It has a strong menthol-y smell and so at first it made me tear…but then when I got used to it…the smell didn’t bother me anymore. The results are great and I would definitely repurchase it. It’s sold at Sephora for 29$ CAD and for the price and the quality…there’s no arguing here that this is a must in your skin emergency saving kit. I even let my husband use it with me…and we sit there all red and demonic, but both end up with clear looking skin.

3- Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum in Oil for damaged and over-processed hair

This is literally the bomb! I discovered this on a whim at the drugstore when I was in search of a serum to leave in my hair after the shower. I was going through a rough time and my hair was always freaking dry…even though I am not a hair coloring whore…I mean I love it on others…but then I feel bad doing it to my hair…Anyway, the ends of my hair are allllways dry…and when I started using this, it completely changed. This Dove oil saved my ends and made my hair shiner, healthier and just over all good looking. I bought this for a grand hefty total of 6$ CAD and let me tell that this is the best 6$ I have ever spent in my life…this product  does what it promises to do and you see results instantly…and for colored, damaged hair, the results would be even more amazing.

4- Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

I have spoken about this mascara before…and you can read the full review here…but this is just to share that I finished it (again!). This is my go to mascara and I am in love with it. I have been using it for a year now..and I got this sample in a Sephora sale…but just to say…this mascara is bomb! It’s a bit expensive (33$ CAD), but it gives me the results I want…volume and length and lasts all day. So a total yay for that one!

5- Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is definitely on the price side of things…I mean this 30ml bottle costs 46$ CAD..but Kiehl’s is a great brand and a lot of their products are worth the splurge. I got this a few years ago when I had skin issues and had loads of hyperpigmentation spots…and found it amazing as it helped nourish and heal my skin. Then, I forgot about it and rediscovered it again this year. I have been using it every night before my moisturizer and dab into my skin and just let it sink in before adding my other layers. ANDDD, it smells amazing! It’s a mix of essential oils which help heal the skin, regenerate the skin and plump the skin by morning. This is a definite repurchase product and I will continue to use it in my routine.

6- The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

I discovered this brand a little while back by luck and since it was inexpensive and had great reviews…I wanted to check it out and see if I found something I liked to add into my skincare regimen. I got the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum because I wanted clear skin before the wedding. I started using this serum in May and I can absolutely certify that it helped my skin stay healthy and clear. Wheever I broke out…it was always mild and it clear instantly. I used this along side the Kiehl’s serum…I used this on in the AM and then put my SPF on. What I liked about the Ordinary products is that they’re efficient, inexpensive and they’re very thought out. There’s science behind each product and they offer the best for your skin without damaging it. I feel like the products are very potent…but in such a gentle way. Niacinamide helps reduce blemishes by decongesting the skin gently. It also helps keep the skin oils/sebum in check…it balances things out and so you’ve got fewer break outs. The zinc in this, on the other hand, helps heal the skin faster and it is known to be a very effective ingredient for acne-prone skin. For 12$ CAD, I would say, this product is a winner.

7- Bleu Lavande “Être” Hand Cream

This lavender hand cream smells divine! This 50ml tube costs 12$ CAD and it lasts for a long time…depends on how much product you use on a daily basis. Since this is a tube that I would typically throw in my bag, it could go for weeks before it finishes. Bleu Lavende is a Canadian based company that makes a wide range variety of therapeutic home, health and beauty products. Obviously, we all know that lavender essential oil acts against stress and anxiety. This cream also contains good ingredients that helps with the growth and balance of the skin tissue. It’s a great product to keep close as it softens dry skin by giving it elasticity and protects against attacks from the cold. There’s also grape seed oil, which also nourishes the skin and keeps it smooth. And finally, the Shea butter protects the skin against dryness while maintaining its elasticity. Overall, this is a good handy cream to use on a daily basis as it doesn’t make you feel greasy…but it hydrates you enough to keep you happy!

8- Schwarzkopf BC SCALPTHERAPY Dandruff Control Shampoo

Since moving countries, I have had so many issues with my hair because it hasn’t been agreeing with the water…its’ too salty I guess. I never had dandruff and dryness issues as much as I do now…or up until I found this gem. I don’t like to use Head & Shoulders because I feel like it dries out my hair and doesn’t completely get rid of the dandruff issues. Then, I went it a random hair shop in Jordan hoping to find the holy grail that will save my hair…and then I crossed this one; the Schwarzkopf dandruff control shampoo helped clear the issue and deep cleaning my scalp while being gentle on the actual hair strands (if that makes any sense). For 200ml, you pay 34.00$ CAD and I say it’s completely worth it. I feel like it’s like a clarifying shampoo…which means, you do not need to use it every time you shower because it could get a little aggressive.  This is a definite yay in my book!

9- BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel

For 68$ CAD (15ml), I was hoping I would love this. This eye gel cream was a little bit of a meh product. For what it claims to do, I would have loved to see the results. Now, I purchased this a few months ago on the Sephora website in search of the perfect eye cream to help with my darkness for the wedding…then I found this through the high rated 5-star section. I decided, despite the hefty price tag, I would try it anyway. After a few months of using this, I wasn’t too impressed. This eye gel promises to reduce puffiness and dark circles. I felt like the only thing it did to me was hydrate my under eye area…which is something I could get from any cream from the drug store. What I did like though, about this cream, is that it was lightweight when applied and scentless; which is perfect for sensitive skin.

10- COSRX Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

Without going in too much depth…this is my holy grail, ride or die, most amazing, most favorite cleanser of alllll time. I have spoken about this COSRX cleanser multiple times on my blog and to know my full thoughts, you can read this. This is my 4th bottle and I will continue to repurchase it. For 10$, this is the best cleanser I have used in my entire life…even more so than higher end cleansers.

11- ALTERNA Haircare Caviar Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray

I got this as a sample and LOVED it! Not only is it a heat protectant, I feel like it restores your hair as well. This spray contains caviar extract,  vitamin C, E, A, B6, B12 and Biotin…which all help restore hydration, strength, vibrancy, and elasticity to the hair. The mixture of marine botanicals deliver moisture and help repair damage, resulting in hydrated, perfectly smooth strands. With the dry issues I have been having, my ends would end up looking more damaged and fried, after using this it made my hair so soft and AMAZING and restored. I will certainly be purchasing this! You can find it on the Sephora website for 37.50$ CAD. Pricey but worth it.

12- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

Hyaluronic acid is a moisture binding ingredient, which means, it will lock in moisture into your skin and help revive it and hydrate it deeply. Young,  juicy and supple skin is exactly what you get when using hyaluronic acid on a regular basis. Vitamin B5 helps heal, protect, sooth and regenerate the skin. The Ordinary people have got this skincare game in the basket. They make products that are super potent but affordable. This is what I love about this brand, they care about making things right and providing products for consumers to truly benefit from. So for 12$ CAD, I would say that this a definite repurchase item…in fact, I already repurchased it…just waiting for it in the mail!

13- Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution

This micelle solution is the bomb! I use it liberally to cleanse my skin and to remove makeup. It is one of the few micelle waters that doesn’t burn or sting my eyes. This water cleanses and removes makeup without drying out the skin What I like about this is that it purifies my skin gently and I can sometimes get away with just using this, rather than washing my whole face with cleanser. On morning, where I can’t be bother to wash my face…I just splash some water and then use this micelle solution on a cotton pad and then voila! my skin feels clean, refreshed and new. This 500ml bottle costs about 15$ CAD, but they sometimes comes in a 2 for 1 special, which comes a little bit cheaper. For anyone looking for a good micelle solution, Bioderma is the brand to look for!

14- Caudalie Eau de Beauté BEAUTY ELIXIR

I first started using this 3 years ago when I was in search of a water-y spray to help with dryness on the plane. I got it on a whim at the Sephora aisle of doom by the cash…and I ended up LOVING it. This stuff is amazing…I mean it doesn’t do much to the skin except give it a little oomph and a little glow.  The beauty elixir is a toning mist that sets makeup (which is the way I use it most of the time), provides an instant burst of radiance, and tightens the appearance of pores. The smell is calming and soothing and it’s so yummy and I will continue to repurchase it even though it does nothing else than give you a glow. The spray is good and it distributes the water in a lightweight mist. The 30ml bottle runs for 22$ CAD, it’s a little expensive and is such a princess product but I love it anyway.

15- TOO FACED Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

I’m not going to write too too much on this…because I tired it and it sucked. SO icky, so sticky and so freaking hard to remove…and it freaking clumps and gets everywhere. Don’t understand the waterproof part of it, because it smudges everywhere…perhaps my lashes are too wild for it, however, this is a big nay for me. For 30$ CAD I was hoping it would give me the results I was looking for.

16- BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

I adore this little bugger!! LOVE ITTTT!!! It’s basically a liquid highlighter which you can use alone or mixed into your moisturizers, makeup, etc…I usually preferred to put it into my SPF cream. This always gave my skin a natural and healthy glow and people always complimented me on the days I was wearing it. This little bottle is sample size, as I bought it in a set for the wedding…I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it… and I ended up loving it! I would repurchase it for sure at some point…but right now I have something else I am using and I am equally loving. Also, 50$, that’s essspenssivvee!! However, here’s a big yay to BECCA for making such amazing highlighters!

17- Caviar CC Cream 10 in 1 Complete Correction Leave-in Hair Perfector

I have used this multiples times before and this is only a sample size I got during a purchase at Sephora. But I did buy the full size and I think it’s totes worth it. It’s 31$ CAD for 2.5oz, but using a little bit of it goes a long way. This leave in conditioner/treatment smells freaking awesome and it leaves the hair supple, healthy, hydrated and shiny. It’s a 10 in 1 product and so you get a lot of benefits using it. It provides moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength. Basically the best cocktail your hair can ever ask for—to look absolutely beautiful, healthy, and flawless. I usually either use this after the shower on my damp hair or on dry hair the next day I wash my hair…either way, you get the results. This is a staple in my hair care regimen.

18- The Ordinary “Buffet”

This is basically a mix of peptides that claim to help keep the skin youthful and healthy…I kindda felt that it did nothing to the skin and it was a little bit of an added layer into my regimen for nothing. I wouldn’t repurchase this…it’s wasn’t nay but more of a meh. Peptides are amino-acids that are the foundation and building blocks of proteins in the skin. This is the only product from the The Ordinary range that I would not repurchase.

19- Boscia TSUAKI Swirl two-part gel & cream deep hydration moisturizer

This swirled formula combines a gel and a cream to help hydrate the skin and lock in moisture. The white cream is obviously the heavier of the 2 consistencies and it is there to provide the deep hydrating and firming ingredients, including tsubaki (camellia) oil and rice bran. The gel, however, contains the lighter nourishing ingredients, like sodium hyaluronate. At first I liked it, but when I started it using it more and more, I ended up hating it as it gave me little white heads along my cheeks and I knew it ended up being too heavy for my skin. I felt like my skin got a bit too greasy with this product and so this is not a repurchase for e. I would only use it for when my skin is super dry and for 50$ that comes out expensive.

20- Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream

I was searching high and low for the perfect eye cream that will help hydrate the skin around my eyes and de-puff it, until this guy. I got this in the 100 points exchange at Sephora and I am so glad I did because I found the perfect eye cream. This is hydrating but not heavy…it skins into the skin beautifully and provides enough moisture. I feel like concealer goes on so much smoother every time I use this little bad boy. It’s 69$ CAD, you get 15ml and I know it sounds insane but I would say it’s worth the splurge.

21- Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Sunset

Last but not least, I have spoken about the Marc Jacobs makeup line in previous posts…this is the only high end brand I am willing to spend my money on. Marc Jacobs has got everything down with this line. The mascara, the eye shadows, the eyeliners…they’re just to die for. The quality and the consistency is amazing and to be honest, the price isn’t too bad for what you get. I mean, yes I paid 33$ for this eyeliner, but I have had it since December and it’s still going strong…well up until it dried up recently after I left the cap open for a few days…le boo!!!!! Other than that, the colors are awesome, the quality is the bomb and the lasting power is so freaking insane. They glide on smoothly and stay put alllll day…this is a definite must for those who are in search of good quality liners that don’t move or go anywhere.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know which of these products you have used and loved and which you have hated…would love to hear your thoughts!!!
