Here I go yet again with another post about Marc Jacobs…but I can’t help it, everything he does is just magical!!! I had purchased a few of the Marc Jacobs fragrances when I was in university and keep using them for a while. I was a big fan of the Daisy perfume. It was a fragrance that suited me at the time. If I now wore this, I would be feeling a little too girly…not that it’s a bad thing, but I prefer muskier “masculine” scents now (although this isn’t how I would describe Decadence). I purchased this new Marc Jacobs perfume a month ago and this is how I feel about it…
The perfume is described as follows:
A sensual, luxurious, and woody fragrance, Decadence embodies the spirit of irreverent glamour. The fragrance opens with sultry top notes of Italian plum, iris flower, and saffron. The heart combines luxurious notes of Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, and orris. The indulgent dry down reveals the base notes of vetiver, papyrus woods, and liquid amber.
I have been using the Miss Dior Eau De Parfum for a few years now and it’s a very demanding and heavy scent for those who are used to light floraly perfumes. Like I said, I like musky scents that give of a little hint of masculinity (a little like Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb for men…secretly..I’ve used it…not so secret anymore). Okay so, Decadence is a perfume beyond anything I have used. It’s a
very unique fragrance. I mean the notes are very peculiar and just all over magical. I smell hints of vanilla, of jasmine but in a woodsy/musky way. It’s a light yet heavy scent..a little ambery and surprisingly a little sweet. The smell lasts all day!!! Like literally all day. Don’t go heavy on spraying it, because with 2-3 spritz, you’re set. It’s definitely not a scent for everyone, but for me it works and I wear it day and night (as opposed to my Miss Dior..which I only wore on night outs).
Overall this perfume is sensual, magical, feminine, opulent, surprising and delicious. I feel like a badass woman who can conquer the world. It makes me feel super seductive and sexy in a very subtle way. Everyone who took a little sniff of this perfume fell in love with it. Now, this baby runs about 115$ CAD for 1.7 oz, but for me it’s totes worth it. A little goes a long way and if you’re looking for something totally unique, it may be worth giving this a try.
I know that scents and perfumes are particular to every person, this is why I suggest you try it out before committing. I usually go into Sephora, spray perfumes I am interested in on my wrists and continue shopping in the mall. After a few hours, If I still like the perfume I sprayed and the lasting power is great, then I invest in it. Fragrance isn’t something you can buy out of impulse as you need to see how well the perfume sits with you. There are two main reasons for this. One: Because all perfumes are composed of a top note, a middle note and a base note; these notes will change over time (if you keep the perfume for too long). The top note you notice when you first spray the perfume on the card will totally change as the fragrance evaporates and this is why I suggest you spray it on your wrists. Which leads us to point number two…Now two: your body chemistry has a major effect on a fragrance. What smells heavenly on your sister/mother/friend may not necessarily work for you depending on how your body reacts to the fragrance.
Before y’all get bored, I will stop here, because I got carried away giving you a chemistry 101 lessons on fragrances…
If any of you are on the hunt for a new sexy perfume, I suggest you go into a Sephora near you to smell this baby out.
Hope this post helped!
Until next time,
